In the press photos of the Newstalk deal it mentions that Newstalk are going to sponsor a new competition.
Any details of this?
In the Herald AM today it says that Newstalk will be title sponsors for a "new competition between Premier and First Divison clubs" aright. Probably just lazy journalism though..
On Newstalk itself they said its the A Championship.

Together with all our hearts.
I hope it's not a new competition, as we don't need one.
Maybe resurrecting the old First Division Shield would be an idea, but beyond that we don't need further trophy or tournament proliferation. Even the Irish League learned this eventually.
Sounds like it's just rubbish journalism re the A League though.
Sounds like a revamped league cup.
The super cup remember that..for the 4 teams involved in european competition..used to be a decent pre-season fare esp in the days of winter soccer..
Ah, the Super Cup. Think we're still holders.
Is it not the A championship?? If not then its prob the Lewague cup...its due a change seen as though it hasnt been changed in how many eyars now...four!!lol
Sounds a bit pointless if you ask me
It's quite obviously the A-Championship.
How could another competition be accomodated, with the League Cup, FAI Cup, Setanta Cup and European ties?
Yeah think the First Division shield could be brought back in. And cut the league down to a 2 round robin cos it just seems odd that some teams get to play at home twice and away once against certain teams.
