No it would guarantee Wexford in the Setanta- the D1 winner thing was for one year only.
Probably deserves its own thread here. First time its been held on a weekend AFAIK. Live coverage on Setanta Sports too.
Disappointed to hear that Derry returned 400 tickets unsold. Any idea how Wexford are selling their allocation.
A win for Wexford would guarentee one of Wexford, Dundalk or Waterford in the Setanta Cup, wouldn't it? That should add a bit of life to it.
Would obviously be a massive upset but if they can win in Cork, anything's possible.

#NeverStopNotGivingUp
As far as I'm aware Wexford sold the full allocation and there's plenty of people waiting to snap up the returns.
Only wish I could make it down for it myself. Hoping to be able to catch it on the television, or at least record it and watch it before I hear the result.
Getting into the Setanta would be incredible, it would be interesting to see how we got on against the poorer sides from the North.
Tallaght Stadium Regular
I'm looking forward to this match. It's going to be a complete sell out once the 400 returned tickets are snapped up by Wexfordians. I'm going to be in the Derry City section - tried to get tickets for the Wexford section on Saturday but they sold out far too quickly. It should be a great night for WYFC. Hopefully the locals join in the singing and get behind the home team.. A great chance to advertise your club and hopefully get more of them back in the future!

In fairness as excited as I am about going to the game Dodge, for other people with a family and a mortgage it's a 6 hour trip to see a first division team in a week when they'll be shelling out for the Cork cup replay on Tuesday, and then Linfield and Celtic on Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. An adult and 2 kids to those last 2 games comes in at around £90 not including programmes, food and drinks.
Not complaining about fixture congestion, prices or Wexford themselves, it's just the timing.
Aside from all that, I've been thinking about it all week, can't wait to get down there and can't wait for the game. If Wexford (last game, lost away to Waterford, placed second bottom of Div 1) win it would be one of the biggest upsets of all time, not least because we take it seriously.

I've no problem with fans missing games. What I do have a problem with is Derry fans predicting that they'd bring thousands and thousands to the game onlya couple of weeks ago

How many tickets did Derry actually sell in the end?
Probably a couple of thousand I'd imagine (which i know fits in with the above claim, but you all know what I mean...)

Our fixtures have been chopped and changed loads over the last few weeks, you of all people should know about that- didn't you start a thread about all the fixtures St. Pats had to catch up on? We're still in LC, SC and FAI Cup and when you factor replays and league games in, we've had a lot of rearrangements. And this game happpened to be in a period when we've 3 big home games, including Linfield at home on the horizon.
Anyway, our club have proved time and time again that we travel in bigger numbers than any other club. If we regularly had to return tickets I could understand but it's an exceptional circumstance rather than the norm. You know that as well as I do. Just think, we're going to bring maybe 3 time as many fans on a 7 hour trip two thirds of the way down the country for a first division side, than your club could draw for a crucial Setanta Cup game at home.
And holidaysong, I don't know how many tickets we got exactly, but we sent back 400.

I don't know who proclaimed we'd be taking thousands down. I can't afford to go- simple as that. There ain't many I know who are going either.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls
Derry fans being defensive, there's a shock.
Great support alright. All I said was it was disappointing that they returned 400 tickets (which it is)
Thanks for the info passinginterest
EDIT; Here's that post claiming (or at least implying ) that 3,000 would make the trip (same bloke claimed that they could've got 15,000 to the UEFA Cup a few years ago too...)
EDIT 2; For balance Not all Derry fans are as deluded, Some claim upwards of 500 will travel.
Apologies for the earlier generalisation that "Derry fans" had made ridiculous claims

Yeah that's a silly number of fans. I reckon 1,000 odd is a good bit of support for a game that comes at a busy time in the fixture list and is 6-7 hours away.
I also suspect that many Derry fans are not travelling because they consider the result a gimme against weak opposition - although I reckon it'll be a very tight game.
Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
Derry would have sold about 1100-1200 to be returning 400 which considering 6 hour trip and credit crunch not bad at all
Tickets in Wexford sold out in two days at all locations some quicker than others
Can't wait for the game local press out today and had 6-7 pages of build up for the final also great buzz around
And Miles To Go Before We Sleep
You've also got this idiot/deluded Derry City supporting fool called "Marty" who for some reason is squatting in the Bohs forum.

Unfortunately wexford can't provide us with enough tickets. It's not the first time that teams are turning down Derry's hard earned queen dole money in a final.
Kom Igen, FCK...
I'm confused. Is this match on in the RDS?
