Suprised to see Walters left out.

I think the most impressive thing about that squad is the mid field you can put together, Andy Reid and Thomas Butler are quality wingers, and Miller and Thornton are a good combination and both great individuals, all four will go on to win many caps I think.

    Exclamation .................................

3 Irish based players ..... WTF like

Irish clubs need to sort out the youth policy's and retain more youth. We need to have these players in our league or should be getting good money for them. I am not saying hold back players ... just that they should be looked after more on this side.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

But with Graham Barrett and Jonathan Daly back in the fold this time around, there may be no place in the starting line-up for either Elliott or Cork City’s John O’Flynn, who also scored in Poland.
    eleven-a-side.com

    That makes sense doesn't it.

Doubt even Given is likely to drop the 2 forwards involved in the biggest (away) win for the u-21's in a long time. Barrett & Daly have a poor goal scoring record at u-21 level anyway.

From what I've seen of him, Don Givens is a useless manager, and he's likely to do anything like that.

From looking at the players in that squad, there's simply no excuse for having the pathetic record he has as U21 manager and should be moved on and someone else given the job, the U21 squad is a very important part of the whole set up.

Only seen Barrett on tv but he very impressive. He also seems to show a lot of composure for a young player & doesn't panic when has a goal scoring chance.

How old is he anyway? whats his background?

to be fair you could make a strong case for including Graham Barrett in the senior squad, he'd definitely deserve his place at U21, but next to O'flynn, i think they'd work well together.

Barrett, that is Graham, is a grafter but his goals record for a striker isn't really upto much, he has to show good form over a long period of time with Coventry, like a season and a half, to be worth another chance in a friendly with the seniors.

Don Givens has stated that O'Flynn will definitely start

    from www.eleven-a-side.com

    O’Flynn a certainty for under-21 start

Cork City striker John O’Flynn will definitely start the Republic of Ireland under-21s’ European championship qualification match against Russia at the RSC in Waterford on Friday week, according to manager Don Givens.

"John O’Flynn is one of the first names on the team-sheet," he said. "He has scored three goals in five games for the under-21s and he’s among the top scorers in the eircom League so his record speaks for itself. He will play against Russia.
