Shearer is a class act and a GREAT goalscorer. Sven is getting a fair shot in terms of time, but as usual with the England job, external influences aren't making it easy for him to do his job, neither are some of his unruly players, come to think of it.

He is also retired from International football.

If you pick the two best XI's of each country the English one is alot better but Irish teams always are more than the sum of the parts.

    Given
    Carr O'Shea Cunningham Finnian
    Reid Kinsella Holland Duff
    Keane Morrison

    compared to

    Seaman
    Mills Campbell Ferdinand Cole
    Becham Butt Gerrard Scholes
    Owen Heskey

We have a better keeper, right back, left winger and I suppose Keane would be better than Heskey.

4/11 when it comes to Irish players being better than English.
    Oh no not them again

Good point about Wales, they are a class outfit at the moment. Should even make it to Portugal.
Correct answer is actually 1985 . Gary Lineker scored his first ever goal for England. Since then, we've won in 1988, drawn in 1990 (twice), 1991 and beaten them (officially I think) in 1995.

Still reckon the last two games (v. Russia and Switzerland) aren't a collapse of our class but just a dip in form. On World Cup and prior to that form, I'd imagine we'd beat England handily enough, if only because we'd be up for it more. Wales would be a serious threat now though!

Finnans twice the player Ashley Cole is.
    5/11 but we'd win.
