    Last night in Newbridge

Galway were beaten 4-2 and not just that but well beaten by a fair Monaghan side.
Our new keeper Brinias well I don't think he could have a worse game again this season , well that's what I hope anyway and the back four might as well have been in a boat on the bay for what use they were .
On the flip side our new centre forward Armstrong was very good and sharp for the first 70 minutes and scored two goals I really like the look of him and I am sure he will do very well for United this season .
Thanks to Shiven Rovers they gave everybody a good welcome in a very good ground .
So see you all Friday night and I hope we see a better showing from United .

Claret, I wouldn't get too worried about early pre-season friendlies.
    Did Lester play for you?
Did anyone stand out for us?

    4-2 ouch!
Spoke to someone else who travelled and the picture was very, very bleak.

Better to have it out of our system now but no matter what spin we put on it, confidence will be badly shaken by this. After Conor Gethins brace for Harps in their 3-1 win on Monday night, next Friday should give a real indicator of where we're headed.

Personally I'm happy with the wake up call. Some of us have gotten a bit too carried away since our elevation to the Prem.

Armstrong and Glynn looked very good together and will score goals.Brianas put the jitters on the defence with his first attempt to punch a cross.

This is what pre-seasons friendlies are all about. Get the problems sorted before March. Wouldn't read too much into it. Friday is another chance to try out the newbies.

I know that but the welcome united received was much warmer than they get get from city based clubs and also Shiven play in the Roscommon league as do a large number og other county galway clubs.

Behave yourself! Dont make me come to Galway and give ya a spankin!

Our number 8 was Peter D'arcy formerly of Kilkenny City and him, Kevin Williamson (no 11) and goalie Darren McQuaid were the shinning lights of our squad last nite. Robbie Farrell (no 9) and Khalid Hussein (no 6) also are worthy of mentions for their hard work. In fact they were all great! Still alot to do but not bad for their first run out.

Oh and thanks Shriven Rovers, a lovely ground and very friendly people and as for you galway fans......grrrrrrrrr!

    Compare & Contrast

Yea - I thought it was very interesting to read the two reports from the perspective of each team. Cian did his best to soften the blow for us.

I am sure Cian did not see the game like i did , write a good story is one thing but tell it as you see it is something else . And Magicme you have it right . But saying that the ground was very cut up not good for a passing game we should see something better at Terryland as the pitch looks tip top .
