If Robbie and hart doesnt look match fit then they have sold Ireland off for a good night out[/QUOTE]
You might manage the correct spelling with the 3rd attempt
'The thing is that they have been out 3 or 4 nights in a row on total benders.'
Wasnt aware of that, if true - said in the mirror paper it was only friday night (i think)

I don't care whether people make excuses for those players who were out, the fact is that it is bound to affect their performances. If a night out like that takes only 2% away from Robbie Keane's fitness, it is still negative. Robbie needs to be at 100% for Wednesday night. Prior to the Irish team arriving in Dublin, Kerr stated that he had planned an intensive week of training to get Robbie and Clinton sharp for the French game. A night out to coincide with such a training regime was hardly an appropriate response from Robbie. Lets hope that this whole episode galvanises the Irish squad for Wednesday night.

If you can't have a drink 5 days before a 'big' match then footballers must all
be tea total, as for clubs every game is a big match.
Futhermore if you are accustomed to the odd drink, some of the players would be suffering withdrawal symptoms by Wednesday!!

would you ever look at who wrote the story in the "herald" mick mccaffrey the same "so called journo" who created alot of hysteria before we went to tel aviv regarding security etc its typical of the herald They should be getting behind the team not making enemies typical muppets. I heard on tv the players are refusing to co operate with the media over the story.
that particular journalist in question had a run in with Alex Ferguson last year if memory serves me correctly....not surprised he's tried to throw keano into the middle of all this
While I am no great fan of Roy Keane, it seems to be all a storm in a teacup perpetuated by a rag that you wouldn't wipe your arse with!
The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

Roy Keane is still a pri*k!

I can confirm with first-hand authority that the Evening Herald has a shaky approach towards editorial integrity. I'm always surprised when smart, intelligent people I know buy the thing. The little that is actually in it is rubbish, the stories are badly written hype with no substance. So, why buy it when you can buy decent soccer journalism? It was interesting to see how the media can feed itself, however, with RTE running a story on this story last night and the Irish Times covering it this morning. This story has been talked about enough already, I don't like to see that pile of sh*te get any more publicity than it already does.
I think its more RTE and the Irish Times wanting to make sure as many people as possible know the the story is crap. The RTE news presenter said something like "A case of a tabloid never refusing ink".Originally Posted by Donal81
True and I find the Irish Times soccer coverage to be the best around. It's just interesting how what was a non-story from the start becomes a story. I really would urge people never to buy the Evening Herald, it's an absolutely awful paper but seems to attract those looking for sports news. I have no idea why, I just don't understand the appeal of the rag.Originally Posted by eirebhoy
Totally agree Donal, Irish Times is probably the best coverage. All the articles written are by irish journos for a start which moves them above the INdo and the tabloids. Plus they are usually well thought through and have a new angle on things.
when are the FAI gonna make a proper complaint about his clown McCaffrey, he's done rovers, Bohs, the league as a whole, he's put his name to outrageous stories about terrorism in the north, the Israel match build up was scandalous, he runs stories about Muslin terrorist splinter cells in Dublin and now there is a "source" telling him about Roy Keane having a bust up with Kerr - the guy is a joker, but a dangerous joker because some day somebody will read these pieces of fiction and really give him a story a hate crime story
out this fecker now
There's a simple solution to consistently shoddy journalism. Stop buying it and therefore funding it.
