Perhaps appropriately for a rural club, Kerry are having their pre-Christmas jersey reveal on the 8th of December:

Presumably 'They shall not pass' is a comment about the players.

As much as I'd love the Adidas rumour to be true, I believe we will be sticking with Macron for next year. You're right though about the design I think. Will be interesting to see how it turns out. Will be strange to see us in a non-striped home kit.

I think we had an Adidas kit in the 90s didn't we? Black stripes on the shoulders of a red shirt? I think I remember wearing it for the u14s a year or two after!

Yeah one of the lads I worked with said that today. Think that was the one like what Liverpool had in the early 90s Longfordian?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Yes something similar Marty. Black stripes on the shoulders and kind of a light shade of red. Probably worn around 1992 or 1993 or so.

Fair point, though I see why they did it. Last seasons Derry jersey was very difficult to read the player numbers from a distance and on TV. Maybe a compromise would’ve been to keep the stripes on the back of the fans version of the jersey as it does look odd with it a number there. Overall the front is a cracker of a jersey though

This isn't a unique challenge and there's a couple of answers to how you handle it. Derry/O'Neill's solution is my least favourite but probably the easiest because of the red and white colours. Any team I can think of with red and white stripes have a similar solution. With red + black you can put white numbers on and it will be plenty visible but black numbers on red and white are a lot less visible. Could always go with outlined numbers? Black number with a white outline but that may be a bit of a pain for the kit person or whoever has to apply the numbers to the jersey. Or put the number on a panel and apply that panel to players jerseys? I know Bohs had to do that in the European games in late 00's or early 10's

Yeah Derry themselves had to use a panel for European games this year too

Hard to do much different with stripes, but it's not a bad effort.

Stripes make it hard to properly see shirt numbers though. Must be tricky for commentators who aren't all that familiar with the players.

Somewhat odd cross-hatching on the Kerry home kit, but the increased gold is a nice touch:

That's not bad at all. Though the pattern does look like something you would expect to see covering the seats on the DART.

Not sure why they need a new kit again so quickly though?
