Lo and behold, Tottenham are this morning reportedly contemplating a massive bid for Evan Ferguson.

Jury definitely out on Spurs at the moment and a genetically weak club traditionally at the best of times.

This is great lads, Spurs aren't good enough, should aim higher, when a few years ago the howling on here when MON wouldn't pick Seanie Maguire at Cork.

And - there have been different capacities mentioned over the past number of years - 6,000 - 8,000 - 10,000 - 11,000 - 12,000 - and the club really should push for maximising the capacity.

Dublin - given its population - can sustain four big clubs (Rovers, Bohs, Pats and Shels) and they should target combined attendances of at least 40,000 between them - which would be about half or even less what clubs in England would generate. Cork City should be getting a similar number - Dundalk & Drogheda 5,000 - Limerick 7,000 - Derry should get 10,000 but the sectarian divide would drop that to about 7,000 - Sligo is the only PD team that is actually hitting where they should be. Most of the first division teams should be hitting double what they get.

Now - I get it that there is other sporting competition - but I have taken that into account and they are way below the numbers attending games 60 years ago - it is sheer incompetence from the FAI and the LOI over not just years but decades that has seen the attendances far below where they should be.

I think Brighton wont sell this summer, but their whole business model is based on selling the likes of Ferguson who they get cheap or free, (Im surprised they not had more bid for Mitoma this summer as a side note) so if an offer comes in thats in excess of the Caicedo fee they will accept it and it'll be up to Ferguson to decide whether to stay or go. I think he'll stay for this season but move on next year. I know hes young but injuries can change a career in a second so with the money he will make from a move he will have to sooner rather than later.
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Illustrious company. And he is 3 years younger than the next youngest nominees - Saka and Caicedo turn 22 around the time that Ferguson turns 19....

    Caicedo - 21
    Haaland - 23
    Saka - 21
    Ramsey - 22
    Martinelli - 22
    Ferguson - 18

I agree - Spurs would have to offer something like £150m for Brighton to consider it - selling Sanchez and Caicedo means that they have finished the summer with a significant surplus and brought in several good players in the process. I think Ferguson should stay at Brighton - Spurs are a bit of a hot mess at the moment - and nobody knows how Postecoglou will do over the next few months.

Started against West Ham and played the full game. Really tough day out. West Ham seemed to be almost double marking him. He worked very hard. Despite the pressure I think he had 4 attempts on target and he might be a little disappointed not to have done more with 2 of them (although decent saves from keeper). He looked very tired and a bit frustrated from about 70 minutes. I think he’ll have learned a lot from the game.

Brighton were really off their game today. Ferguson had some good moments, and one thunderbolt that was well saved, but quite a few touches that didn't come off too.

Ajax, Marseille and AEK Athens for Brighton in the Europa League. Some great games to get his teeth into. Seriously tough group actually.

Brighton have signed Ansu Fati from Barcelona.

That's a serious signing, and extra competition for Ev unfortunately

Doesn't he usually play wide? I suppose it's more bodies in a crowded attacking room but there's room for both in the team of Fati finds his feet.

Don't worry about Ferguson - the kid is going to be a superstar.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Brighton play with one proper centre forward and Fati isn’t that. I view him as more of a No. 10 or wide player.

Given the difference in profile and the quality and qualities of Fati this is more of a help than hindrance in my view. And Enciso was there anyway so it's just a replacement for him. Is Fati more like Mitoma so could play far side?

    Don't get that reaction myself.

If anything having Mitoma creating chances for him on one side and Fati doing the same on the other should be a good thing surely? Ferguson's main competition is João Pedro.
