I was praying Newcastle would get Blackburn.
Qualifying for Europe just got harder.
Arsenal Vs. Blackburn

Well, a Blackburn Vs Newcastle final is still on.

From a footballing point of view, that would be better, but as a neutral, it would be nice to see 2 teams who arent in the big 3 in the final.
Remember, outside the Big3 and Liverpool, the last time someone different won the cup, and that was Everton in 1995.

Spurs were robbed yesterday. I hope Souness Shearer and his cronies win nothing.

UEFA place will be added to League position now. Does that mean European place down to 6th place in England now?
It is already at 6th due to the League cup so if its a Man Utd V Arsenal Final it means that 7th will get you the Uefa Cup place also

Wouldnt it be cruelly ironic if Newcastle got to the final, only for Shearer to be suspended or something? If that were the case, I wonder would the FA go out of their way to make an exception?

No Chelski were a top 4 or 5 team around that time I think, althogh they finished third the odd toime.
Everton would have been one of the 'big3' anyway back in 1985 wouldn't they.
Chamon Mothafcuka......he heeee.

You don't deserve to be considered part of the 'big' group unless you consistently finish in the top 4 places and consistently win things, over a number of years. Chelsea are the exception because of a dodgy Russian's bank balance, which has elevated them above all other teams. The 'Big 4' are Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool. The rest are paupers. Everton might disrupt that for a season, but it won't change anything in the long term. Leeds Utd and Newcastle are good examples of clubs who thought they were big, but they weren't. Chelsea would be in the exact same boat as Leeds only for a lucky break in finding a Russian who needed to run from the mafia and his government, and launder his money.
I dont think there is really that much between Newcastle and Liverpool in terms of class and ability this season. Newcastles very poor start aside, they would be alot closer to 4th spot.
Also, I dont think Newcastle have ever claimed to part of the big clubs in England. What they will quite rightly claim, is to be possibly the best supported team in the country.

Liverpool's injuries aside, they'd be a lot closer to the chasing pack than they are now. Newcastle have had no injury crises, they're just poor.Originally Posted by Gary
Well Newcastle had the opportunity to become a big club but wasted it. Have to say that I've never been a big fan of Shepherd, too much of an ego and nowhere near shrewd enough for this game.
