Well, now, if he's looking to learn from one of the best strikers to do it in recent years then he's gone to the right place.

Last chance at this level for him? Hes done well to get another Championship move given how the last couple of seasons have gone, hopefully this is the season he stays fit, has a professional attitude and plays

Big season for him all right. He's still living off the Swansea goals a few years ago. If he can hit that form again he'll pretty much establish himself as a Championship standard player for a few more years. But another poor year and his next move will be down the divisions.

    Rooney won't tolerate his BS
It's absolutely his last chance. It's criminal because we know he has the talent.

All well and good - but then how long is Rooney going to last himself?

True, but we will know where Michael is at by xmas if he's not in the team or not scoring, then it could be the "start" of the end of his international career etc

From Obafemi's perspective - the sooner Rooney gets the boot the better. Ronney is that bad a coach.

Obafemi could be the one to keep Rooney in a job if he performs. At his best Obafemi has the ability to be the best striker in that division, unfortunately he has only shown that best for 1 period between Jan and end of season for Swansea, which is 2 and a half years ago.

The most likely scenario here is that Rooney is sacked by November and Obafemis loan is cancelled by the end of the year, and he ends up in L1 for 2nd half of season.

Obafemi is in the Connolly category now, rumors of lack of professionalism follow him around and is running out of last chances, lets hope he takes this one.

Yeah Obafemi doesn't need help in ruining his career because he's doing a good job of it himself. How many managers now have questioned his commitment and poor attitude?

I am not disputing the issues with Obafemi - but Rooney is a donkey as a coach.

They'll suit each other then given Rooney is a donkey of a coach and Obafemi is a waster.

Got a half hour run out today, which is something at least.

They drew 1-1 away to QPR despite playing an hour with ten men (and the last couple of minutes with nine)

Interesting that Burnley loaned out Obafemi during the week, and then had to resort to throwing on Luke McNally as a centre forward substitute today. They're either really badly organised right now, or they really, really don't rate Obafemi (or possibly a bit of both).

When I remembered that Rooney was in charge of Plymouth, my first thought was "oh no, that's not good" but then I thought of a potential silver lining - Rooney became an elite striker in spite of having a physique that probably required extra work than others, and some questionable off-field antics. Perhaps he could be the ideal coach to help Obafemi with any issues he has with maintaining an elite pro's physique and with scoring goals.

First league start for Plymouth today in a 3-2 win over Sunderland. Had pretty minimal impact though - whoscored says he had five touches of the ball before coming off after 64 minutes.

Alan Browne came on as a sub for Sunderland a few minutes later.
