Still trying to fathom as to how we did not win that game. We created so many chances but just could not put them away. The Mons players seemed to go to ground for anything. So many players went down looking for "treatment" throughout the 90 minutes. I don't know if was a Roddy tactic or they were genuinely in pain. Either way I'd be worried if I was a Mons fan. The ref was abysmal for reasons outlined by razor. Sava seemed to have a tactic of timewasting since the opening whistle. On the plus side we played quite well until Shawadaroddy wanted to play with 10 men behind the ball, then played well again when we got our second.
Magicme it was very nice to meet you.
Good evening!
Dundalk did enough tonight to comfortably see off UCD at Oriel tonight.
Amazing footwork from Mark Quigley in the build up to the second goal. Although Jayo eventually scored he could (maybe should) have had a hatrick before that. Quigley scooped the Dundalk player of the month award tonight and should be the front runner for the league award too.
It was good to see the Martin Russell philosophy in action again with UCD trying to play good football. Paul Corry had a good game and is one to watch. Unfortunately there is not enough in this UCD to develop into a good team this season - a bit of Dave Mulcahy / Stuey Byrne type mettle would make them so much stronger.
Roll on Setanta on Monday night for another trip to Belfast and hopefully another win there

We were not great it has to be said. As for Gabby wasting time....the first time when he got jeered it wasnt his fault, your ball boy took forever to get the ball to him, later at the far end, he placed the ball, the wind moved it, he placed it again, the wind moved it again so there was no tactic involved. That ref was mental! I cant believe he booked Gabby and gave you guys a peno for Gabby and Rodgers tripping over each other and then took away the peno and gave a free out when it should have been a corner?! It was wild funny, there were 3 cork fans sitting in front of us and when Gabby and Rodgers tangled up he jokingly shouted "Penalty" and the ref gave it and he couldnt believe it. So minutes later when we were on the attack I said to him to shout "goal" but he said "Im not going to shout goal in case you score" as the ball rolled over the line for our 2nd!
Oh and Juan it was good to meet you and the rest of the lads. x
Ill "top" your useless Jimmy, with a clown called Conor Fitzgerald who reffed the shels limerick game and was assisted in his crapness by one of those female officails who dont come west of the shannon. They were simply ****e. Limerick won the booking count 5 - 0 with imo only one of them being a real booking, some of his bookings were bizare. As for herself, christ on a bike id take back their voting rights back if i could going on her performance
0-4, no hassle, no drama..
The Model Club
Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.
Ezekial, small question, did the pitch in Oriel help UCD with their passing game? I ask as there'd been the discussion on artificial grass and after watching 2 international games this week on the stuff I can see how if a team wants to play football the surface really does help. Traditionally Oriel was always a good surface, though some of the football played on it was better suited to the fair green in Mullacrew.
First time seeing UCD this year so I can't compare, but certainly they tried to playing passing football.
Whatever about the bounce being slightly different to a grass pitch in good condition, the surface is always level and true so it suits passing teams - playing footie on the deck means that the bounce is mostly irrelevant.
I'd imagine that the UCD players appreciated the even surface with the current condition of their own pitch
We played nice stuff out in Galway too, so I'd imagine it's not Dundalk's pitch that's the difference but out own at present. Maybe we'll be more of a threat at home once that improves, as it will in the coming games.
Couldn't make the game last night, but it sounds like we played nice stuff without ever really being much of a threat up front. Could be a long season watching Bohs' accounts if that continues.
Anybody know what age Kevin Dawson for Shels is he looks a great player.
Longford 1-0 up v Athlone. Jacques Morley direct from a corner apparently.
2-0 now, Austin Skelly against his old club. Gillespie on the bench for anyone semi-interested.
