Jaysus - completely forgot about the Arctics. Really liked Humbug.

A brave and ambitious leap forward by them.

Will be interesting to see where they head to next.

Not heard new Ian Brown album yet - but appears to have been well received here and has been reviewed favourably.

Only 2009 album I've bought is Basement Jaxx's new one and I love it.

Forgot about Invaders Must Die, a real return to form for the Prodigy. White Lies 'To Lose My Life' in there too, honourable mentions must go to Editors 'In This Light..' and Placebo 'Battle For The Sun'...

Haven't heard it yet but if the singles from it so far are anything to go by, Biffy Clyro 'Only Revolutions'... Expecting big things.

Disappointment of the year? Muse's album for me.....

Has no-one else found this a really poor year for music?

The album that I've liked best was released in 2008 I think : Tallest Man on Earth's "Shallow Graves"

The Muse album leads a list of massive disappointments in my book.

Will add Biffy Clyro's 'Only Revolutions' to the list, very impressive. Them Crooked Vultures debut worth a mention too.

    Wilco - Wilco [the album]
Cork City: Making 'Dream Team' seem realistic since 2007.

    John Mayer - Battle Studies

Only album that I have that was released this year, and John Mayer is always reliable for brilliant music.. though he apparently spends up to 14 hours a day writing music so it's not as though it comes without hard work. Legend.

Two to add from Asian artists

The new she album called Orion is as good as the debut (I threw one of her tracks on my last Foot Exchange CD for those of you that got it, if you liked that, you'll like this)

and a female pianist I was put on to yesterday called Yuki Murata just released her debut album called Films, brilliant stuff from the first couple of listens, here's a taster
