John O'Shea, you've got to be kidding me.
Nominees here
How the hell has Richard Dunne not being nominated for Senior Player of the Year??? He's been Man of the Match in nearly every game!
LESS OF THE BULL NOW!
John O'Shea, you've got to be kidding me.
McGeady and Doyle for me
How the hell is Stephen Rice there, he's not that good.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
I'd imagine it's because of the new under 23 team, they decided to have one nominee from that and he played well for them and scored the last minute winner against the North. No chance of him winning.
Good for a LoI player to be in that company though, it's the kind of thing that catches the attention of casual supporters.
Tallaght Stadium Regular
I've been one of his biggest critics but no doubt he has improved, which, in fairness, wasn't that hard to do. Still having lapses of ball watching, first Polish goal for example.
No way should he be in line player of the year. Should be between Doyle, Dunne and Given.
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.
Didn't Given miss half the games due to injury???
LESS OF THE BULL NOW!
I'm not one of these people. I think he's done very well under Trap.
But there is no question in my mind that he is the weaker half of the Dunne-O'Shea axis, and thus there is no way he should be nominated ahead of Richard Dunne for player of the year.
If there was a "most improved," then I'd consider giving it to him, but this isn't a U-13 side.

Owen Garvan – Ipswich Town
Stephen Quinn – Sheffield United
Darren O’Dea - Celtic
The build up to Doyle and Keane's goals were brilliant, the finish was simple enough. But I'm going to go with Keogh's goal.International Goal of the Year

Michael Spillane - Norwich

Doran seemed to change the game when he came on in the recent qualifiers for the U-19s, so he gets the nodU17 Nominees
Conor Hourihane – Sunderland
Ger Hanley – Salthill Devon
Aaron Doran – Blackburn Rovers
Don't know enough about the rest of the categories to comment
Senior John O'Shea - looks really good under Trap and has also won the CL and premiership.
U23 Aiden McGeady
U21 Stephen Quinn
LoI Keith Fahey
U19 - can't really judge that one as i didn't see them.
U17 - Ger Hanley looks a great keeper but needs to grow. - Hourihane missed most of the games I saw and Doran did well also.
Eh? part 1 ... You may have missed it but there is a forum on this very website which tells you more than you ever need to know about the likes of Stephen Rice and other locally based players.
Eh? part 2 .. the clue is in the u23 part of the nomination title. Again you may have missed it but we have an u23 team - again that's been covered at length elsewhere on this website.
Together with all our hearts.

I didn't think Spillane was still u19. Remember seeing him play u19s about 2/3 years ago at centre half beside Noel Haverty and thinking he was the only player likely to make the senior side. He was a man amongst boys
