As mentioned in the Irish Abroad thread, Whelan came off the bench for Yeovil in their cup win at the weekend - https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018...at-man-united/
And they've been rewarded with a home tie against Manchester United. Hopefully he gets a run in that match. Would be brilliant experience.
Whelan picked up a Player Of The Round award in the Checkatrade trophy for his recent performance in Yeovil's 3-2 victory against Fleetwood, where he scored what I think is his first senior competitive goal: https://www.ytfc.net/news/2018/march...he-round-gong/
Highlights here - He gets the second and Cian Bolger got Fleetwood's opener: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvPuQZN4VBY
unfortunately their run ended on Tuesday with a defeat to Shrewsbury: https://www.ytfc.net/matches/fixture...on-27-feb-18/#
Strange one this - Whelan is back at Liverpool, and played for their U23 side against Everton on Monday night, but is still technically on loan at Yeovil and could still play for them before the end of the season.
There's a little bit about it here: http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news...wsItemId=28472
Incidentally, Liverpool won 3-1. Masterson also played and won the penalty that opened the scoring: https://www.premierleague.com/match/...on-v-liverpool
According to footballerinsider, Whelan is being watched by clubs in the second tier in Germany: https://www.footballinsider247.com/e...to-be-leaving/
Hope he gets a move to Germany. Crewe weren't exactly rushing to sign him back after his loan spell, but you'd much rather see someone like him playing in the German second division than with the hatchetmen down in League 2.

I don't know. Their manager seemed to speak glowingly of him. I'm not sure if they wanted to let him go but reading the above it seems that it wasn't for playing reasons. Maybe Liverpool wanted one last close look at him. Or maybe Jurgen was priming him for his mates in the second league in Germany!
It was this article I read that seemed a little less positive.

To be fair Eir that whole article based around fairly wishy washy comments from a manager....doesn’t seem too damning or positive either way. Probably doesn’t want to hype a player he’s trying to acquire if that’s the case.
Set to join Phoenix Rising who play in the Championship league, the second tier in the USA, below the MLS.
Drogba's side!
