As is traditional, we start with the "For the love of all that is holy in heaven and Earth, will someone please tell Dr Dre to release Detox so I can sleep at night" entry

The album I am most looking to hear for this year is Queens of the Stone Age.. Six yrs is a long time for a new release...Talk is they are releasing a new album and Dave Grohl will be drumming as a guest like in 2002!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Oliveri is back working on the new Kyuss album far as I know, so it's worth mentioning that him and Homme might not be seeing eye to eye of recent with the whole law suit over the Kyuss name.
I'm quite looking forward in a cautious way to the new Black Sabbath album. Missing Bill Ward, but we'll have to see if they still have the old magic, and if Rick Rubin destroys them with new age production quality.
Deep Purple, Alice in Chains, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, Tool and even Thin Lizzy are all scheduled to release new albums in the coming year and I've heard that Metallica plan to release a new album toward the end of the year.
I'd be looking forward to all of that, albeit hugely sceptical of Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott, they're meant to be much, much heavier live now, so I'd imagine the new recordings will go in the same way.

[shamelessselpromotion]Also, I might add...I'm quite looking forward to releasing a new EP myself in a couple of months.

I'm going to jump on this wagon and shamelessly, quite proudly actually, promote my new album which I've been looking forward to for too many years. I'll post some download codes if anyone on foot.ie would like a digital copy. Here it is on soundcloud.

Cheers Nigel. The Saw Doctors thing was mentioned to me years ago in relation to one of my old bands as well. I can only guess it's something to do with Irish accents. One reviewer of this record described my vocals as "delivered in a thick Limerick accent". I had to laugh as I strongly suspect I'd have to act as an interpreter for him should he ever encounter a thick Limerick accent. :-)
I wouldn't be a Saw Doctors fan if I'm honest but a lot of my favourite bands and singers sing in completely un-affected/unamericanised accents* and I suppose monkey see monkey do. I'm thinking of bands like The Wedding Present, Billy Bragg, Half Man Half Biscuit, Morrissey, Madness ...even Sepultura.
I did wonder once -are The Proclaimers conscious that they sing in strong Scottish accents? ...and surely Marty Pellow has to be conscious he (deliberately?) doesn't?
*which can often get bands stick for being "parochial" and labelled a 'folk' act.

Haven't gotten around to listening. Will do tonight.
Now, today on the grapevine I heard that there may be something new from Gruff Rhys' side-project, Neon Neon. This is awesome news if true because the first album (DeLorean concet album, "Stainless Style" was superb). And seeing Har Mar Superstar live in the Redbox was mental.
Also if anyone hasn't seen it, check out the album art for YYYs, "Mosquito". It's class.

Foals have a new album next month, 'Holy Fire'. 'Inhaler', a track release from it was class, expecting a good one.
Biffy Clyro have a double album 'Opposites' coming up too. Brave move, double albums rarely hit the mark.
Inhaler by Foals sounds like a tidy amalgamation of the better aspects of their two prior albums. The album should be tremendous. I was delighted with the direction of the last album because I felt they were pigeon-holed quite a bit by the first one. They've been around quite a while and have out-lasted some of their Oxford contemporaries like Youthmovies and Jonquil. For some reason, they seem to get a raw deal from critics. Possibly because they're not enough Tame Impala and not enough Lumineers.
The Knife's album should be pretty spectacular. Fever Ray's release was chilling (witness the videos) and, consequently, awesome. I'm expecting something special with this release given the amount of time that ideas for it have been bubbling under the surface.
I'd love a brand new album from Brand New also. They've been working on material since Daisy so I'm hoping something will come to fruition and quotes last year from them made me wet my pants in giddy excitement (i.e. the material resembles where they could have gone after Deja Entendu).
The way Biffy Clyro have gone recently, I'd be terribly worried about a double album. I think the levels of pretension they trying to demonstrate would not fit onto one album, so they said they'd make it a double. They were a cracking band in their day but make me cringe now. Puzzle was even quite good and everything before that was excellent.
New My Bloody Valentine album out in 2 or 3 days...
