Fact: I didn't state when I contacted them.
Fact: Not all of the board were out of the country last Friday afternoon
Fact: You are not always right, you just think you are
Fact: I'm not wasting any more time trying to persuade you not to be so pessimistic. You are obviously happy walllowing in your own misery.
Fact: I still respect the amount of work you have done through the years for United.
If YOU are not part of the solution,
YOU ARE part of the problem
I did not say all of the board I said all of the decision makers although I apologise as one of them flew back from his summer residence to earn a few bob covering the Galway Laois game before flying back again.
Im not wallowing in my own misery but im Fu**ed if im staying quiet until the full truth is out. The supporters of this club have been shown a total lack of respect and coming back from Cork last Friday myself and my friend spent the journey trying to explain to his young nephew how all the players that he loved were being let go for nothing by united and he was devestated as a lot of other young fans will be.
Its now nearly a full week since we forced one of our most loyal players out the door against his will and the club have yet to officialy acknowledge it which is nothing short of criminal.
We are the Galway Boys Stand up and make some noise"
Yeah, it's maddening that the club haven't acknowledged that they forced Derek out after he pledged his future to the club.
Galway United - Connacht Champions 2008
I'm very sorry to see Derek go but.........maybe it was the best move financially and career wise for him. With the cuts in wages etc that the club faced it is possible that we couldn't guarantee him financial / career stability. He is a huge loss and in an ideal world he would probably have wanted to progress at United but it may have been the best decision for him and the club. I wish him the best.
If YOU are not part of the solution,

he definitely wanted to stay with united but he was persuaded to leave by the club because they pretty much told him we were fcuked if he didnt go and that he'd really help the club out by going. everyone knows derek loves galway and at the end of the day he was just helping the club
Homer: I'm gonna make sure these deliveries are made on time.
Bart: Let me come with you
Homer: Dont you have school!
Bart: Dont you have work!
Homer: Ah Touche!
He's scored on his debut for Pat's!
Could be an important goal for United...
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
Even though he's gone he's still helping out GUFC! Congratulations Derek great start for you lad!

Ha! well done lad, waiting now for the sligwegians to come on saying he's still useless because of how he played all those years ago. Players never improve after leaving the showgies !!!!!!
He played well tonight. Came on at half time and stayed out wide left. Attacked his full back at every occasion and gave us some much needed urgency. Took his goal well too
