Surly the keeper has to be on it.He was the main keeper for ireland last year.Well I know there was one more on it last year but can't play cause he played league of ireland, think that must be the case with a few of them.

its a fairly experimental squad, no disrespect to the players involved in it. anyone who was involved in the qualifying tournament in italy in october is not included so thats why there is no carrick players in it.

    Cool

have to agree, some of the players selected are the one's that were involved in the pre-tournament squad last year and didn't make it, then there's some new faces as well, i doubt the final squad for the euro's will have many of theses in it.in reality some of theses players are not up to the standard of junior international football!

Theres about 5 lads overlooked from Mayo are without a doubt good enough to be included in this squad.

Always the same lack of opportunity for lads west of the shannon!?

I would imagine that it is very difficult to pick an international team at this level. There is a large amount of players of the same standard in this grade, ie. not good enough to make it in the LOI. I reckon that you could pick 3 or 4 teams of the same standard. The huge turnover in new caps awarded would indicate this also.

you could make plenty of teams of the same standard, just because there awarded a cap doesn't necessarily mean there good enough to receive one, there are a lot of caps been awarded to players from leagues to appease there LEAGUE officials who want recognition for there league, look at the team the other night, that must be the worst performance i've seen in years from any irish team, hope most of them enjoyed the night because they'll never get another cap, there is a certain level of player needed to compete at that level and quiet frankly there was only about 3 players who looked any way comfortable.we will see how hard it is to pick a squad in the next few months when SMITH announces the squad for the euro's you could name about 12/14 of those players already.friendlies like wednesday are window dressing for the associations to look like there given an oppertunity to players.harse but true im afraid.

Anyone who has seen Carrick's centre back Anthony O Donnell is amazed as to how he is not in the squad

you only had to look at chalky for 90 minutes.....we unfortunately have to see him every week....he is awful, however gerry smith and himself are best mates so he will be playing as long as he likes, how do you think alan barry got capped, that is the biggest sin,he was a sub for saints and in an irish panel....laughable

Alan barry deserved his cap he has been the best striker in limerick for years and scores bag full of goals so how can it be a sin...i agree with the rest
