Lester would be odds on for player of the season as for Robson he hasnt played enough games to be judged yet.He has had 2 good games but has been very poor in others.

contender....YES!!.... odds on??...... your having a laugh, i would put him on par with DOB's chances, id have Robson,Glynn,Fitzy and Reggie ahead off him....

id give it to Reggie although injurys have hammpered him somewhat!

reggie as you say has been injured/missing too often
glynn burst onto the scene but has had way too many average/poor games
DO'B for me is without doubt our Player of the Year.

Derek for me too. On Robson he has played 5 full games and three substitions and he is still way up the list for POTY for me. TCs best signing along with Regi. But this only serves to highlight the dead wood in the squad. Mod; hows about we start a poll for POTY to take the attetion off the current poll?

Longford were deducted 6 points, Waterford were a First Division side up to a month before the start of the new season and Bray have managed a few wins, are above us in the table and are safe

bray are far from safe they are 5 points ahaed of waterford and if we beat them on friday we go above them. Some Galway United fans think we are a big club and have a divine right to be in the premier.

I am not one of those fans, I major trophy in 30 years says it all, but I am entitled to expect a bit more from my club. I think you must be Tony Cousins, is that what the T stands for at the end of your moniker? If so, no offence Tony, but seriously, you can't stand over what you have done this season

No-we thrive to be Big Club.
All we need is good team and we will be most definutely a "big Club".

But if you're going to be contempt with a season like this you'll always be a yo-yo Club.Aim High.

They thought we were a very well run club as opposed to big clubs like Shels & Drogheda who have gambled on success by amassing large debts. I very definitely am not Tony Cousins but I still think hes the man for the job long term.

Regi started off superbly for GUFC this season playing as centre half and then was moved out of position to right full to accommodate John Lester. He has gone downhill since and for the life of me I cannot understand why he was moved...

Derek O'Brien, though frustrating at times, has without doubt been our best player. He will keep going and going for the full ninety minutes and if all others had his attitude and work ethic then we would be far better off.

i think derek is great when the team isint creating anything and goes on one of those runs - you never know what your going to get

however - a lot of those late crosses for late goals

or unmarked men on the edge of the boxes for corners - i seem to see DOB half jumping or having the hands on his hips

i do like his work rate and skill - but his defending could be a lot better as in he should be bothered

think alan keane needs a mention for poty even though he was missing most of the season

regi briliant centre half - not a wing back - says it all about the team really
    more water!

What exactly has TC done this season to convince you he is the best man for the job long term?

its not just what he has done this season its the Professional way he has worked from day one.

I believe given time he will be a top flight manager and he is learning everyday. Not all the players he has brought in are donkeys as some people say.The likes of Rogers,Charles,Fitzgerald,Lester,Glynn,Robson and O'Halloran are all good signings and one or two of them will be even better next season.

I never thought for a second this sesaon that we would be challenging at the top end of the table and i was realistic I think (a word which get knocked big time on here) in thinking that if we avoided the drop we would kick on next season.

We have four games left are 3 points and a hatful of goals off the playoff place and some posters want the manager lynched. There is a lot of the stuff posted on here about the manager and team that is being taken as gospel but all it is is rumours and hearsay and to base your argument on gossip is not very wise.

We need continuity and we have a good young base of players coming through at least one who has been signed on Professional forms for next season. Were moving in the right direction patience and common sense are whats needed now.

Okay, lets forego rumour for fact.
We have won just twice at home - fact.
We have the lowest win total in the division - fact.
This manager has been given more resources than any other in the history of the club, yet we languish 10th, 3 points abovethe playoff spot - fact.
We had to call a 'keeper out of retirement because one of his most crucial signings - a new 'keeper - couldn't be trusted to hold a fart, let alone a high ball - fact.
The club set out a five year plan, which had at its heart a push for honours, or at least top half, next season - fact.
We haven't a snowballs chance in hell of achieving that goal, so something in the plan has gone wrong and has to be corrected - fact.
True, a lot went wrong for him - strikers being crocked by injury just one glaring example - but again, I return to the FACT that if Longford hadn't been deducted 6 points, and if Waterford had been given longer than a month or so to plan for life in the Premier Division, we would be in the doo-doo.
So if you and the rest of the apologists are happy to play with the future of the club by leaving it in his hands, hats off to you, just don't come crying here in a couple of seasons calling for people to go up and watch us take on Wexford Youths in a mid-table clash in the First Division on a pi.ssy wet October night.

While I dont disagree with your "FACTS" Woodquayboy, I wonder why did you only concentrate on the negatives? Why didnt you include plenty of more facts which are at your disposal? Also, I must ask you for next weeks lotto numbers as I can see in the fact that is highlighted you can predict the future !!!!!

here are a quick 2 or 3 other facts woodquayboy:

Good away form, unfortunately not brought home on the bus. FACT

only 12 losses, better record than half of the other clubs in the league, unfortunately this means highest drawn matches in the division. FACT

better first season with a full time players set up than drogheda (this season champions) in there first season (who won a playoff against galway united to survive in there first season as a fulltime set up). FACT

if longfod got back their 6 points they would still be in the bottom 2 and if waterford had an extra month they would still be where they were as they said that they couldnt improve on there playing staff at the time as there wasnt any cash available to them. So, in that case above you were a bit out on that "fact".

Next seasons part of the 5 year plan is middle table. From what I have been told the plan is already rolling for next season. It consists of a large change in personnal. I have heard of one name so far for next season which is a large improvement, and many more to follow apparently! This obviously means a large movement out the door too. If it all works out for the club your "FACT" the one which was just a gut feelings about the future, will not come to pass. Nobody know for "FACT" what lies ahead, we just have to wait and see. When the season is over the board of directors will sit down and decided where the things went wrong this season and eliminate those problems to stop them reoccuring, this would be the most important step for the club in moving forward yet again next season.

Finally, tell me why the childish attack on posters here at the end of your post? If people want to think positive its there choice, not everyone must think alike. I myself think positive every friday night and someday I hope I will feel more positive later those nights after the match too, put only time will tell.
