FLMAO! Still, would like to read that - though Hamilton Academy was/is a grammar school. What other clubs has the programme featured?

I tried setting that up a few seasons back for First Division editors. The responce was far from overwhelming though, and I never really got to push the idea.

Longford's is by far the worst I've seen so far. Generally just ads.

Ours was never good, and its even worse this year. We are doing joint ones now like how bad is that (a programme for the Limerick game/ Wexford game) costs €2. Only decent part is "Mark My Words"

But by far and away the worst i have ever seen has been Kilkenny Citys.

Monaghan, Kilkenny and Kildare would be better off just not bothering.

Harps' was pretty decent, but Dundalk are a mile ahead in the First Division (no bias). As for the Premier, I can only speak for Drogheda - not great.

Wexford Youths is OK, not a fan of the A4 size though, and I hear it's gone up to €4 now.

Really like St Pat's and Bohs programmes, plenty to read and well produced. Pat's probably slightly slicker. So far that's all the ones I've seen.

Pats contact the Press officer of each club for info. If Clubs aren't too bothered to do it for themselves, not sure programme editors have any chance.

Ours is OK. Decent mix of standards (manager bit, stats, club news) and other articles. And as stated ours is "free"

Cork's is nowhere near as good as it has been (since they sacked the eds) but still quite good. Haven't seen Rovers this year but its always fairly good (even if the one for the cup semi cost €4). Haven't seen Drogs or Bohs (its at a friend's house) but the rest of the league is quite poor.

BTW if anyone wants any thing on Pats let me know

Waterford's had a feature on Brian Murphy's history and links with the town, which was interesting enough for an away fan, more of that wouldn't go amiss.

Always make a point of buying a programme whatever game i attend. The Bohs programme has some decent stuff in it and is always worth a read. The away match reports are always pretty funny and Ned Simpson's column can sometimes be good. Only downside to the Bohs one is the look of the thing. It's crying out for a makeover. The way the articles are spread out, i.e. the first half of an article could be two or three pages away from the second half, needs changed.

The St Pat's one wasn't bad. Looks very professional and is easy to read. Looks like a bit of effort goes into it. Content could be better but it's not bad. If the Bohs one had the look and layout of the Pat's one it would be excellent.

Of the others i've seen... Bray was pretty terrible. The look of the thing was shocking. The Shels one wasn't too bad. Some decent reading. Looked ok too.

Speaking as a newcomer to the league, the pen pics and profiles are very useful. It helps me get to know the players of other clubs alot easier. At a time when the LoI is trying to attract new fans its a very useful resource!

I thought the Pats programme, for their SSC game with us, was very good. Really professional looking and plenty to read.

Ours is very well presented and looks good.
Lennox and Ricos notes are good but there's too many of the same article with Murray, John Kennedy and Noelle Feeney giving general articles on the past forthnight. Adrian Desmond also.
Could do with more featured articles on random ccfc topics.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Tried that back in season 96/97 in the first division but got very little co-operation apart from Waterford and Limerick. Some clubs didn't even respond to phone calls.

Yeah, as noted, it's a case of others not bothering. From when I was putting together our programme (as opposed to just writing for it now), I used to e-mail around clubs just to ask permission to use the pen pics from the website and to check for any updates. You'd be doing well to get an answer half the time.

I usually update our player profiles to make them relevant to the opposition (e.g. scored the last time we met or some such), which makes it all the more annoying when clubs ask for the profiles and then don't use them.

How many people here are involved in programmes? Would it be worthwhile getting a programme resource thread or some such going? List of contacts, list of people who have a standard article about ther club or other such ideas?

    Pineapple

the clubs covered so far have been Academica Coimbra from Portugal the two Unis in Romania that you mentioned, Hamilton and next up will be Politehnica Iasi. Univ Catolica in Chile is on the to do list, but that will be when Europe has been exhausted. Speaking of which what's the name of that team in Azerbaijan you mentioned before... any links etc?

I think thats a gr8 idea. Anyone need any info on Waterford's team, just ask a bit in advance and i'll do it!!
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.

Nobody can have any excuses at not being able to have pen pics of Dundalk players in their programme when we play them. The new profiles are now online at www.dundalkfc.com
