I think its more they reject existing religions.

Now that I think of it I don't think any religion has been spared the wrath of South Park which is the way it should be.

Scientology is like a real life Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster cult, and should be used as such as an example of the idiocy of faith.

Idiocy of faith or people though?

I think by attacking faith you must be attacking mankind...

Was that scene part of the Panorama doc?

Okay, I have checked out the BBC website
    http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/sear...=all&edition=i
and there's a good bit of stuff there on this.
So far as I have seen, the Scientology guy has won all the rounds, ending with a ko punch in the outburst, followed by more humiliation for Sweeney in the post programme interview where he digs himself deeper trying to get out of the hole.
    Pompous príck.

Panorama sent a guy to Jamaica to investigate the Bob Woolmer case. Conclusion: He might have been murdered, probably something to do with cricket...

I'm far from a sit on the fence agnostic. Atheist through and through. I see each and every religion or cult as being equally ridiculous. Christianity is every bit as laughable in my eyes as Scientology.

It was poor reporting - the guy should lose his job for the outburst. If any of us shouted like that in our job we would be fired.

True. But then, what people are taught as children is very difficult to get them to deny later - admitting you and the people who raised you were wrong isnt easy -and at the risk of automatically losing any burgeoning debate, the rise of fascism was greatly aided by germans not wishing to believe they were wrong about world war 1.

They switched to a stress test a year or 2 ago. Well thats what they offered me. After watching that Panorama clip its the scientologist that needs de-stressing.

I suppose all you can say in the Reporters defence is that he may have lost the plot, but he kept his sanity, as he said himself.

I can remember journalist Liam Fay, while at Hotpress, wrote an article on the amount of Cults located in Dublin. This was back in the early 90's and even then there were loads of them.
