    Consistent Media Treatment

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/2007/0416/tyroneclub.html

Can you imagine what the reaction of Mick McCaffrey's and the other gutter hacks would be if something like this happened at an EL match. Do you think Tom Humphries will be giving it some space in his column in the coming weeks?

This is the latest in a long line of similar incidents across the country, many of which go unreported, yet if you believe the meedja, us soccer fans are at best only one step away from being Chelsea Headhunters, whilst the brawling Gahheads are simply committed amateurs involved in heated parish rivalries which are blown out of all proportion etc. etc..

There's been a lot on here about a perceived anti-GAA bias amongst many posters and by and large its probably true. But until the fourth estate in this country start applying some objectivity to their reporting, who can blame football fans for pushing back?

As passionate amateurs, as opposed to the crassly 'commercial' sacair kind, they should be given expenses for washing their casual gear and for training DVDs.

.....also be able to claim back kickboxing and judo training expenses to improve their ability to defend themselves from "overexhuberant" fans.

Of course Tom will write about it. It was all caused by Shamrock Rovers fans who took a detour coming back from Cork.

Gaelic football is a nasty violent sport & those incidents are a weekly occurence. The GAA congress recently voted to remove some offences from yellow card offence presumably because too many people getting sent off.

If there was even one incident like that at an LOI game it would be slatted by the media for weeks.

In fairness Martin Breheny consistently highlights thuggery on gaa pitches in the Indo, but he seems to be a lone voice.

I know the FAI are useless so difficult to defend them but I am sick of this "GAA great administrators..." line that we are constantly feed. If they were so organised why have they always backed down from disciplinary actions & surely there wouldn't be Cork hurlers striking cos no boots.

The best solution the resolve that GAA match is to replay it but this time throw a few Aussie Rules players into the mix. That usually quitens them down a bit.

I heard that the Irish Cricket Union has called for the World Cup to be disbanded because the Australians are too good and generally act like w@nkers about how good they are...
