People like you make me sick , if he keep going to Ed byrne Gigs then he will keep making money and continue to performe and turn up on every panel show / video clips show .
He is the only comedian that puts me in bad form .terrible
Completely off-topic but was at an Ed Byrne gig last night in Hammersmith, he brought up the topic of his sh!t sitcoms. What was the Irish one he "starred" in that only lasted a series? It was woeful if i remember rightly.... Very funny gig though.

The sh!t-com he was in was the fabulously execrable The Cassidys. RTE spent a fortune promoting this show as the lead in to their Monday or Tuesday comedy night. It was on just after the news and hardly mentioned the other show that followed it at first, the first season of a co-production with the BBC called Bachelor's Walk. We all know whiat happened next.
By the way, Pauro 7 - you're off my Christmas card list for bringing the memory of that rubbish back to mind! It is one of the reasons I still refuse to find anything with Ed Byrne involved funny, though I had made a conscious effort to forget why
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

His British one was even worse. Co starred Davina McCall.
Bonus points for anyone who remembers it (without the help of google or IMDB)

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
Yeah, thats the one. Awful stuff. As are the majority of British sitcoms

As are the majority of US sitcoms too, Dodge.
Don't know why but I always feel the need to back up the Brits a bit on this hoary old chestnut.
Far more crap than good stuff. For every Curb Your Enthusiasm, I give you According To Jim and What About Joan. For each Frasier, have a Wings, or an Encore! Encore!. For Larry Sanders, there's The War At Home or My Wife And Kids. For every Seinfeld, there's a (gah!) Will And Grace or (GAHHH!) Ugly Betty.

Ugly Betty's fairly funny.
But when was the last time there was a non Ricky Gervais/Peter Kay uk sitcom that was any use at all?

Black Books and Spaced were okay, I feel. There is a Welsh one that was fairly funny too, called Spin City. And High Hopes.
God I hated that show. It was utter crap from start to finish.
By far the worse family sitcom was the one with John Ritter. 8 Rules or something or other. It's terrible.

Can't agree on that one I'm afraid, HUGELY disappointing, but 'tis all in the beholding I suppose.
Bit unfair with the Gervais/Kay bar, there's 4 cracking shows I can't mention.
But Shameless and Black Books as have been mentioned, Peep Show, Green Wing, and of course the mighty Mighty Boosh!

Wouldn't call Shameless a sitcom (funny as hell though), or the Mighty Boosh either. Others are no more than half decent.

Ed Byrne stand up is very funny, I've seen him a fair few times but he took a wrong turn with the sit-com's, the one with Davina McCall was brutal stuff.
As for Sit-Coms I'd say pound for pound there's better British than American there's obviously a lot more produced in the states but there's only a handfull of decent ones, Frasier,Cheers, one or 2 otheres maybe that are top class but Black Books, Blackadder, the Office, Only Fools.....
Another significant difference is the fact that UK ones are generally 6 shows where a US sitcom is normally around a 20 week series, it's the old Quality V's Quantity argument
I'd have Seinfeld, Arreested Development, Curb Your Enthuasism over anything Britain ever produced, except for The Office. Even the US office is better than any other British sitcom.
The last few years of Only Fools and Horses were rubbish too
