    Station Road

What's happening at Station Road? Building work has started in the field just behind where the dugouts are.

I've heard it's a hotel, is that true?

If so, would that mean that we wouldn't be able to put a stand up there like the planning permission has proposed?

Or is the hotel thing rubbish and has this got anything to do with the seating announcement that was alluded to by somebody here the other day?

Work is needed in Station road that's for sure.

Nice compact ground with a deecnt bar etc but it needs a far bigger stand.

This isn't actually work on Station Road, like I said, I've heard it's a hotel just beside it. Which if true, will make it even less of proper ground than it already is!!

I might start running corporate trips.
Train from Dublin, hotel room with a view of the pitch, train back the following day.

You could see the match without ever interacting with a person from Kildare.

The ground will be surrounded by development. There is a pedestrian bridge being built over the railway line, the old bridge being done up a bit, and work in the train station. The Department of Defence will also be applying for planning permission across the road from the ground soon enough I hear. The building being built opposite the stand won't hinder the development of a new stand. The original plans for the new stand have an underground tunnel going underneath the stand. Any temporary, Bray-like stand (hint) built between now and when funding is awarded/saved up for a new, super-de-dooper stand would allow enough space for an ambulance to go around the back of it.

Todays Leinster Leader has on the front page the sale of station road for 5.5 million.

Had a very quick read of the article and from what i got, Nwbridge Town will be building a new ground close enough to the current one and Kildare County will be playing their home games there. And building to start in April.

    I could be wrong though.....

    Anyone else know anything?

I can only get the Leader online, but can't find the story. Maybe it's time to phone home and talk to one of the 'boys'.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Can't get onto the Leinster Leader online at the moment too lazy to go out and buy it anyone else having the same problem.

Would appear strange though if the club has plans for a new stand or is this the seating announcement we have been waiting for?.
Everyone needs something to believe in, I believe I'll have another beer.

The training pitches across the road have been sold to the OPW, who will build the Department of Defence there - 500 workers!

The training pitches are being relocated to the fields closer to the railway from what I hear.

Yeah thats what i thought aswell, but it says:

"Since some of the proceeds of the sale will be used to provide new state-of-the-art grounds for Town FC"

    and

"Mr.Boland said Town FC's new grounds-which will be used by Kildare County for home matchs- will be substantially improved. He said the design was at an advanced stage and it was due to go to tender in April."
