looks like the speculation was right all along, as we all said thet galway and rovers would be promoted, i think dundalk will appeal that decsion as they were made paly a play-off and all, i do find it hard to believe that all the premier divsion clubs quailified to stay ther except the bottom team (Strange) as i know for a fact some attendences in the premier division werent up to scratch on some of the first dvision club and some of the teams that dont have good enough grounds for next year have no announcment to do anything to there grounds as of yet, so the supreme commanders are havin a luagh already, there were 21 people to make a decision (now there is 6) so the top teams were promised to stay up and they probaly choose who would join them ( i know you think there not that sinister but they actually are) fair deuce to dundalk for throwing a spanner in the work though, hope they appeal that decision

While I feel slightly sorry for dundalk Galway were the better team over the 5 years so lets just get on with the league. I hope they take it on the chin and go out and win the league this year to get promoted.

sc*** that if you finnish second alone fair enough but to actually be made play a play-off and win that play-off, and then told to do it all agian next year whats sporting about that, sure we beat dundalk over 5 years to, but they had a good season and no rewards after pay-offs, and all thats the key point being made play it,

The play off was just to decide who would finish where for the points tally not for anything else.

We all knew that the league did not matter this season and that is what all teams signed up for.

    Foot.ie! FAI

The FAI couldnt organise a **** up in a brewery to be fair. Both the divisions shoulda been sorted before the season even kicked off.
Harsh on Dundalk though. Sure if all football was judged on past results then what would be the point in watching it. You would have teams like Reading possibly qualifying for europe and being denied because Liverpool have a better history. Come on thats what happening here.

Very dissappointed when the news broke but trying to look at any positives, 2007 will have 3 teams relegated and 1 promoted if Im correct.

If we had gone up then more then likely we would have been one of the 3 (4 places above bottom Club to survive)

However if we win the 9 team 1st Div in 2007 which could be achievable, then we would be in a 10 team Premier of which only one drops down every year and 9 stay up(1 place above bottom Club to survive)....sounds not a bad bet to me but open to correction.
Also I think crowds will be slightly better if we are in the top two all year and going for promotion then in bottom 3 and trying to finish 4th from bottom....

but really if the leauge didnt matter then how come the bottom club in the premier divsion was the worst team in the division to meet the criteria, and dundalk have a far better history than galway what have galway won........anyone. Notin, no histroy pure gegraphical location and of the five dublin teams all meet the criteria not one dublin team outside the top, what a disgrace, and micheal D higgins supporting galway all the way, talkin about a conflict of interest

    its only the start

and the first division will be ten teams next year the new team will be voted in in january, so i heard, it will proably be wexford they were on about it in six one news, one of cork citys prvious investers is running the show and might be gettin dolan in

as for next year that will remain another mytery until then but why not just make it ten now your just complicating it even more, i now understand lost(tv) better with my brain having to work so hard to comprehend this mess

The history was only on the previous five seasons... And galways off the field criteria was supposedly the 2nd best out of all the teams.. Thats why galway got in ahead of dundalk don ramo!

it still doesnt explain why only waterford were relegeted when they finnnished bottom, and the other 10 teams in the division all meet the criteriea, like the 5 dublin clubs all competeing, there grounds are in the middle of dublin no room for expansion some of the attendences were worse than ours except for the top teams goin there, sure we get that to but its the little ones that make the majority of attendences, sure we were proably (in the first divison) judged when kilkenny city our kildrae county came down, no great away support, and they were judged when we went to them, again no away support, but premier teams like UCD were judge when derry city and bohemians came with big support on top of the fans hideing at home till that game came up, it wasnt well done in my opinion and some discrepencys seem to be hanging around some decsions

What have Galway won? FAI Cup 1991, League Cup twice,First Division winners, Premier Division runners up, 3 european adventures (albeit short).
How is Michael D supoorting Galway a conflict of interest? The man is the President of the Club.

take it on the chin! the decision is an absolute digrace, dundalk have 10 times more silverware. and gill said it months ago that they didnt want them in it and wasnt he right. in reality it had f*** all to do with the last 5 years, it was just plain and simple croonie-ism, sure didnt ya see on the news people like micheal d higgins up at the meeting. it was all down to who had the better contacts on the decision board.

it should have been about the football only, not only did dundalk finish second they won the playoff aswell they deserved it more than galway, but if it was us that got in ahead of galway and dundalk we'd be laughing, the fai and delaney are a disgrace. i also think it looks bad on the league that there is not one munster derby next year but thats partly our own fault.
