New signing

Post just up on citynet saying that RedFM have announced a new signing for city- a 6´2 defender from Peterborough on loan for the rest of the season. Dunno how true it is

Hope to Christ you're right. As could be seen in all too many of our games so far this season we are in ABSOLUTELY DIRE need of some height in the centre of defence. An end to a decent share of our problems in sight, perhaps?

If the transfer curtain is fully operational then doubt we could get a player on loan.

I might be wrong though if the "Nationwide" got some sort of emption.

Say on the Echo that City are trying to get Daniel Murray from Peterborough... He has been on trial at City for the part week.

Lightbulb

from Citynet......

City sign Posh defender on loan
On the back of three straight defeats, Liam Murphy has moved to bolster his defence ahead of Friday night's Cup semi against Derry City (Turner's Cross, 7.45pm).
20-year-old Daniel Murray of Peterborough has agreed to join City on loan, after a week-long trial. 6ft 2" Centre-back Murray has only had limited first-team experience with "The Posh", but was apparently recommended to Murphy by John O'Flynn, who left Peterborugh for Leeside in the summer.

it would be wouldn´t it. I also heard gunther had said last season that he didn´t like the idea of signing players on loan- a sign of a man struggling to keep his head above water maybe?

In fairness this is one scenario where a loan player may actually be a good idea.

The only defenders left in the squad are:
Hoggie - injured.
Napier - injured for season.
Carey - bad form
Deccie - old hoofer, just back from injury
Gaz
Andrews - is he good enough?
Bennet - little experince at centre back with 1st team

Gunthers job is safe till year end he'll see out his contract and I hope he stays with CCFC at the youths level, if not how about press officer Hmmmmmm

Signing this guy will also show the players that they will have to fight for their places, and next year if we are going to make a three pronged attack on the League the Cup and the Champions league we need depth in our squad,
There only young lads,

Christ all mighty, he said that he didnt like to get loan players, not that he wouldnt! Its not ideal but what do ye want? People are barking at him left, right and centre that something has to be done at the back, so he gets a pro on loan... and what do ye do??? Nag, nag, nag!

Hypocrits!

Wink Profile

From Peterboro site

Was handed his first taste of senior action two seasons ago at the tender age of 17, a week after pledging his London Road future by signing a five-year contract.

A centre half who is extremely comfortable in possession, has struggled to make the break-through at Posh and could well spend the majority of the season on loan.
Hes also 20 years old, 6'3" & a hefty 13 stone 7lbs

Sure how good could he be anyway if can't get a game at Peterboro?

I never said anything about the defence- just mentioned what he had said about loan players.
