    New FAI Premier League Invites

I think we can assume the following clubs will be invited:

    1. Shels
    2. Derry City
    3. Cork City
    4. Drogs
    5. Bohs
    6. Sligo
    7. St Pats
    8. Longford.
    9. Shamrock Rovers

I think that makes 3 places up for grabs with at most 5 candidates.

    You put Bohs in twice.

IMO UCD, Waterford and Bray/Galway will fill the remaining places.

Its going to be Waterford, Limerick and Galway ..... you heard it here first.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

UCD seem to have done enough this season so 70% safe
Waterford seem to be safe due the Dealney connection
Dundalk had to win the 1st division to have any chance so they wont be there
So it looks to between Bray and Galway united for the last place

    1. Shels
    2. Derry City
    3. Cork City
    4. Drogs
    5. Bohs
    6. Sligo
    7. St Pats
    8. Longford.
    9. Shamrock Rovers
    10.UCD
    11.Waterford Utd
    12.Bray/Galway united

But remember Its the FAI decision so anything can happen

I'd vote in a "Who do you want in the Premier" poll, but I long ago gave up trying to anticipate the FAI's decisions, so not voting here...

If they stick to the rules they have set out themselves then Bray will be in the premier next season. On the field we are ranked 10th in points and out most likely challangers for that spot would be Galway who are quite soe way behind us, on the field even Sligo are well behind us over the past few seasons.

Our off the field will be no problem what so ever, were one of the best run clubs in the league.

Bray will be in the Premiership for 2007.

    In no order......

    1. Shels
    2. Derry City
    3. Cork City
    4. Drogs
    5. Bohs
    6. Sligo
    7. St Pats
    8. Longford
    9. Shamrock Rovers
    10. Bray
    11. Waterford
    12. UCD / Galway Dundalk / Finn Harps / Athlone

I really think the last spot up for grabs is betwee any number of sides. On the field UCD are miles ahead of any of the current 1st division sides, but it's there off field that they should be concerened about, but IMO they deserve to be there as they are a very good side and are easily one of the best 12 teams in the country. 2 current irish U21 internationals in there ranks says it all really.

    EDIT:
Just looked at the poll results, im just wondering why people think that the likes of Galway or Dundalk would be invited ahead of Bray, especially considering there on the field preformances over the past 5 seasons.

FHFC go into the off-field section of the process ahead of both Dundalk and Galway United, so I don't see why they're in there and we're not.

As I have said before though, all indications are that next year's premier will be the current 11 plus Shamrock Rovers.

And a B international, and a third player who would have gotten an U-21 cap last year but for injury (Conor Kenna).

No id just say waterford. Galway need it more then any cos of the huge financial outlay from this season. Cant see us getting it unless a zillionaire of a polish businessman comes in and takes us over

The club hope to appoint a successor at the earliest possible opportunity in preparation for next season's promotion challenge.

There's a difference between FHFC recognizing that it's unlikely that we will be promoted and this poll which seems to indicate that a team currently three places below us in the football standings has a better chance of making it than we do.

I agree, I honestly cannot see GUFC making up the points on the teams currently in the top12 after the points allocation for the on the field criterias. We had to finish in the top 2 to be in with a chance, BUT, who really knows? remember its the FAI and the rule book can change at any time to suit whatever!!!

Can't see how an extra place would make any difference if we're assuming the criteria will be applied fairly?

Remember also the crucial line that the IAG's recommendations are subject to the FAI's approval. Anything's possible.

what do you mean "huge financial outlay" if you mean to imply that United are overspending in an attempt to reach the premier division then you would be mistaken.Rumour has it that we have finished the season with a surplus which would be a lot better than many clubs premier or first division.
