Two more old Blues nicknames to go with Snackbox and Chilli
Darren Lonergan - Baywatch (Blonde perm stood out on the field in 92/93)
Martin Quinlivan - Blossom (As far as I recall, all his brothers were called Blossom, hence the nickname)
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

Maybe it's something to do with Pinging the ball 80 yards down the pitch to nobody in particular

Ben Whelehan was known as the Terminator for a while when he was with Kildare due to his physique and his tackling technique
Spoke to Brendan at the end of last season and he maintained that he could hit a fifty pence piece anywhere on the pitch with the ball at his feet...I didn't argue with him Sound man.

    Some Galway United legends here:

Ryan Lucas was allegedly known as Tripod ( I wonder why)

Derek Rogers was called Buck Rogers (some folk may not know his real name is Derek)

Don O'Riordan was sometimes called Benjy (as in The Riordans on RTE Back in the 1970's)

Neil Oldgen was nicknamed Hilda (a reference to a character in Coronation Street)

Derek O'Brien is called Kerryman (he's from Tralee)
Nobody knows us, we don't care

I remember 3 brothers following Athlone who went by the names of
Scratchy, Smelly and Stan. I only ever remember meeting Scratchy so can't vouch for the others. Did one of 'em end up in International Maanagement?

Scratchy still goes to a few games.

I didnt realise his brothers had nicknames too. Dont really know them
too well but one of them is (or was) big into karate so I wouldn't go
    around calling him smelly

If we're moving onto supporters, it's probably worth mentioning that Ming the Merciless used to follow the Bit o' Red - could that have been before the weed wore off?

    The traitor

Ming was often in Terryland when he lived in Galway. Sometimes, kids would watch him instead of the game.

That would've been a bit later. He was still at home in Castlerea when he used to come to Rovers games, and nobody would have been watching him as it was in his pre-Ming days.

Yes but you had two John Powers on the books at that time. The second was known as John" Tramore" Power, cause he liked swimming
