TODAY FM Ad

Just listening to Today FM on the web over here - there's an ad where the home side fail to turn up for a game against Liverpool at Turner's Cross - Cork City FC is not mentioned explicitly but rather the "home side". I can't even remember what was being advertised but does anyone know how long this ad has been going on for? Is the club/players made aware of this hidden insult?

Question

I tend to listen to Today FM but not been listening to the radio much lately & haven't heard it...

Is it maybe Today FM ad for their saturday afternoon coverage of that foreign league in england or a product ad?

Sounds like a slur alright but will wait til i hear it before commenting...

Bord Failte or not, it's still insulting.

Didn't Bord Failte (or was it the Minister for Sport) announce a sport / holiday campaign recently. Can anyone else see the irony of a government funded agency promoting holidays in Ireland by insulting Irish sport while at the same time promoting Ireland as a location for sports holidays. Or is it just the upper class sports that they can all hobnod at ie golf, horse racing etc. Do the FAI have hand in this add? It certainly has their paw prints all over it.

Well the worst thing about the ad is that you would be hard pushed to remember it, or what it is about, 2 minutes after you heard it (except of course if you are a city fan, then it will probably just annoy you, or another eL fan and you'll be jealous !!). ..
So it has failed in it's primary aim of getting people's interest and generating business. I'm just surprised that any of the w*nkers who "create" these ads even know of the existence of Turner's Cross. ..
Maybe the arrival of Georgie/the boy Flynn, the return of King Billy and the fact that City have a "sexy" team has penetrated through the skulls of the premiersh*ts and rugger buggers who work in advertising/marketing and they realise that all football is not played in perfidious Albion!!!..

Of course if they really wanted to stir things up they'd have said Croke Park.

The reason that the team didnt show up was because they took up one of the fantastic Board Failte offers and decided that a holiday would be better than playing Pool. I cant see how its insulting and atleast it gets the name of Turners Cross out to a large audience.

Any publicity is good publicity... unless it has Paul Marney mentioned in it.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

You are over Germania ain't ya ??
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
