Drogs for Dalyer


Drogheda United have today announced that they will play their UEFA Cup games at Dalymount Park. The Phibsboro venue will host the Drogs’ European adventure with the first qualifying round games scheduled to be played on the 13th and 27th July. The capacity for the home tie has been set at 8000.Dalymount Park has been a favourite away venue for the Drogs in recent years and the Boynesiders will expect a capacity crowd for only the second european campaign in the club’s history.

In the 1983-84 season Drogheda United came up against an outstanding Tottenham Hotspur side in the same competition with the north London club going on to win the competition outright. Over 7,000 fans turned up on a wet and windy September day to see Drogheda United play their first-ever game in Europe.
