Sol Campbell Sold for to Turkish Giants

Just heard from a reliable source that Fenerbace have signed Sol Campbell from Arsenal for 8 million sterling.

Awaiting confirmation from offical Arsenal source but apprantly the Fenerbace website has confimed it - article is in Turkish http://www.fenerbahce.com/haberler/18164.php

Surprising move for the England Centre Half but obviously great money for the player and the selling club, for a 32 year old.

Nothing on the internet superhighway yet.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

"Kevin Campbell suffered racist taunts from his own chairman while playing for Turkish club Trabzonspor in 1999. Mehmet Ali Yilmaz said in a television interview: 'We bought a cannibal who calls himself a striker. He is coloured. A great disappointment to the club."

    ...
he was regularly a victim of racist taunts.
he refused to play for the club until he got a public apology. he never got one and joined cash-strapped Everton on loan. he hit probably the best form of his life to keep them up ... in a desperate bid to secure a permenent deal and get out of Turkey for good

there's some other story about when he was unveiled to the fans. apparently they sacrified a sheep and dipped his boots in his blood .... nice
