Hardly original though.
was watching the cork v shelbourne match there on setanta and after the coverage was over an ad came on showing the goals from middlesborough matches in the quarters and semi final of the UEFA cup. After the commentator was shouting "MIDDLESBOROUGH ARE IN THE FINAL OF A EUROPEAN COMPETITION FOR THERE FIRST TIME......" the screen goes black and writing appears say
" Setanta don't do UEFA cup finals...................unfortunately for middlesborough"
Brilliant
Hardly original though.
Thought it was very strange. I take it Setanta didn't show the Cup final? Unusual to highlight the fact. Also, can Carlsberg sue (assuming they could be bothered)?
well its a double meaning i spose, as in they dont show them, but do they show CL finals? also it means unfortunately for middlesborough they couldnt win them the uefa cup final, because again they dont do uefa cup finals.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
I'd worder if carlsberg have any rights to the "carlsberg don't do ___" bit. They didn't say the rest of it.
The glass isn't half full or half empty it's just too damn big!
Exactly. I doubt they'd have any claim - it's a common phrase, unlike the distinctive "... don't do ..., but if ... did, ... would probably be the best ... in the world."Originally Posted by shedite

Revenge for 2002
McDonalds managed to register "100% Irish Beef" and "100% Irish Ground Beef" and were using it for years until the advertising authority stepped in and said it was misleading to advertise their 'other products' on their burgers given that their burgers were also made of beef ..... and cement (as found out in court when that English couple took them on a few years ago) !!Originally Posted by Dr.Nightdub

I'd say Carlsberg would be delighted with that phrase being so widely used. It'll be forever linked to Carlsberg so its basically free advertising.
