i disagree , why do you say he was never really a serious contender , i didnt see andy reid amongst the reckoning at all for world cup 2002
oh sorry didn't realise that.even then though he was never really a serious contender.

what im saying is he was never likely to break into the ireland side and make the left back spot his own. he showed promise but never even played for the irish senior side. maybe he was on standby for the last world cup but do any of you really believe he would have been playing?there are loads of players who have been in one or two ireland squads and didn't feature again because they're not international class players.foy never even made it into one squad so how can he seriosly be considered as an international class player?
what i'm saying is that when it was 2002 you couldnt say that no he will never be an international player because he was only 20. im sure no one here would say that stephen ireland will never be an international player because we just dont know which way his career will go
but thats different because stephen ireland is a regular in the premiership and is now a full international. Foy only showed promise at forest foy showed promise but wasn't at the level that stephen ireland is at now.he was unproven.but anyway i don't think we're going to reach an agreement on this one so we'll agree to differ!
I didnt say he would make it now...I just said he is very talented. I pointed out that he was almost there a few years ago and that (unlikely tho it is) my kids would b thrilled if he ever did make it coz he is a bit of a hero of theirs. Any of the kids that Foy coached in our Summer camp or the kids who came out rain/hail/snow to watch the Mons over the last season and season b4, adored Foy. As for me being in love with the guy...ha! He is a mate. End of.
