First Irish Manager to get the Chop in 2006?

    Gareth Farrelly (Bohs)
    Damien Richardson (Cork)
    Stephen Kenny (Derry)
    Paul Doolin (Drogheda)
    Dermot Keely (Dublin City)
    Alan Matthews (Longford Town)
    Pat Fenlon (Shels)
    John McDonnell (St.Pats)
    Pete Mahon (UCD)
    Other (Please State)

Is there a point in listing the all the Div 1 managers because it will be fairly irrelevant where they finish this year (and the only name I know is Scully)? Will they even fit? Feel free to add them though?

    ----------------------------
Mod Edit : Max of ten options for a poll lads

Got rid of 3 "novelties", Kerley, Connor and Devlin so "other" option can be included. Suitable for poll now?

I think the first to go will be Alan Matthews or John McDonnell. I think that (probably unfairly) Paul Doolin and Gareth Farrelly will be under a lot of pressure if things don't start off well for their clubs. I don't think any other manager will be in danger within the next few months unless they find their club adrift at the bottom by 10+ points.

Farrelly and McDonnell would be the most likely I'd imagine. I haven't a notion about Collins, he's probably more likely to walk than be sacked.

For me I'd say Farrelly or Matthews, though Fenlon could be under pressure if Shels start badly - then again the fact is most clubs can't afford to sack their managers!!!

Mathews and McDonnell have both just signed new contracts with their respective clubs but I could still see either of them go if things start off badly.

    Who's George Burges?!

Would have said McDonnell had he not signed a two or three year extension. Possibly Farrelly too, though you have to say a lot of those managers do look secure for the foreseeable future.

I dunno - Pete Mahon's got a tough job appeasing all those new fans UCD are going to be attracting.

He is a character in one of Roddy Doyle's novels (The Snapper ) and looks a bit like Devlin

Anyway it will be Johny Mac for the Sack!

Got rid of the likely bottom 3 managers and the novelties, and added an "other" option so poll can have ten choices.

Can't see Johnny Mc being given the boot - his contract was due to finish at the end of this season but he's been given a (target-related) extension for a year. Given the fact that we allegedly tried to get shot of our useless CEO without incurring a big payoff, can't see the board taking on board the expense. If we get "relegated", that might change, but not before the end of the season.

My money would be on Farrelly, it must be all of 18 months since Bohs fans last called for a manager's head, they must already be getting worried about losing their touch.

Doolin. They may have won the cup, but other than that it was a poor league season considering the massive investment levels there for a couple of years now. I just think the guy's useless and that it'll catch up with him.

I'd say Fenlon would be under pressure if they start badly, but I don't think they will, and don't think Shels could afford to sack him.

Farrelly or Matthews would want decent starts as well.

It's going to be a strange season though, not knowing what's coming next year.

I think Keely, Matthews and O'Donnell will all get sacked/leave this season....

Matthews or McDonnell for me. Farrelly's job should be safe unless we have a shocker
