Lack of signings?

Is anybody else a little dissappointed with the lack of signings by Cork so far. I really thought they would bring in 3 or 4 quality players form England, Czech Rep or some other random european country to bolster the european experience of the squad. I was really looking forward to the profile being raised abit not to mention the standard with these extra players!

No players available that are better than current players is what we have been told. Player below Championship level not good enough. With Kearney not resigning looks like will try to recruit left winger before season starts now.

That's a real shame. Was hoping for a few foreigners to add some extra technique and experience from different leagues especially with the likes of Mbabazi, Ndo and that Finish player at Drogs who's name I have not chance of spelling correctly adding a lot to the league. They'll need more quality if they are to reach the Group stages and letsa be honest. The league has to aim to go that far, whether CL or UEFA Groups...

When Cork were playing Slavia Prague, did Martin Latka play ? His on tirl is Middlesbrough at the moment, papers today say that if they want to sign him, they will have to stump up 1.25 million ! That would seriously set an eL side up for years to come

It would, but as we know, all Irish players are undervalued, as transfer prices for Doyle and Hoolihan have shown

Thats why I think all EL clubs should be quite insistent on sell-on clauses. Even if Doyle fades a bit and makes a move to another championship team in a few years he'll still cost close to a million and even a 10% clause would ensure a large pay day for any club in the EL. Especially as it is mainly young players who are being sold, Murphy, Doyle, Weso who in a few years could all be worth quite a bit compared to what they went for recently. 15% of 3 or 4 million would do nicely...
