Cunnigham and staunton for the WC..........

you would imagine the likes of o'Brien and O'Shea will come into the reckoning in the next couple of years but expierience is the key for the WC

    Only one problem

If Ireland start with Stan and Cunningham against Germany we will have a problem. They are both converted full back and neither is over 6ft.

Voller has said that his starting strikers will be Bierhof and Janker both in the 6ft4'' and above club.

Anyone else see a problem where Mr. Schnider runs past Ian Harte and crosses it into two lads towering above their markers??
    Oh no not them again

    Thumbs up

2 from Staunton, Cunningham & Breen with probably the later to lose out narrowly.

Staunton was shocking when he was back in as centre back last year but IMO has been very good over the last year now hes getting first team football. He might be a bit slow but his passing ain't too bad. Be great to see him make cap no. 100 at the World Cup.

I'd go for Staunton and O'Brien - a nice mix of youth and experience. Cunningham is a good defender, but primarily a full-back and two full-backs in the centre is a risk. But when push comes to shove I think McCarthy will pick Breen to partner Staunton.

Can those of you that opted for Staunton and Cunningham, have the good grace to hang your heads in shame.

I believe that we need a mixture of youth and experience. I would prefer Staunton and O'Brien, but we'll probably get Staunton and Breen. Staunton should be there as his distribution was fantastic last night.

I'm glad we lost last night, at least McCarthy has now got to think again.
