Country clubs can bank on Bohs, Pats, Rovers and I think Shels taking their full allocation of away tickets - that was pie in the sky stuff only 2 or 3 years ago.
so,if Longford were in the Prem would you want empty home spaces extended to an enlarged away allocation? Genuine question

I’m seeing on Twitter that Derry are seemingly giving Drogheda only 75 tickets for the game on Friday and will apparently be doing the same for other games. Crazy stuff if true as I thought there was a rule of 10% of capacity to be given to the away club. If that’s what Derry give to away clubs then it’s exactly what they should get in return at the other team’s home game against them

Don't think there is such a rule, needs to be brought in though.

Would Drogheda bring more than 75 fans?
75 would probably be plenty for Galway Utd, we've always had a very poor away support

Drogheda definitely getting improved crowds, I'd say theyd easily have taken a couple of hundred seeing it's the first game of the season...

Wow that’s poor on their behalf. It should be minimum 200 available for away fans at the very worst.

away end being demolished to make room for new stand. Once it is built, the away end will move to the opposite end of the stand they currently in - hopefully June. Don't think they had much choice given season ticket holders for past 3 years had to be accommodated soon. So online seats this year for Home fans - just the terrace tickets. Means I won't get until at least August now as I can't get to Derry on the Saturday morning for 9am the week before a game to buy a paper ticket.

You would hope any club that receives only this amount return the favour to Derry...

Not sure what our cap is, 4500 I think. If it was me we would be giving away sides at least 25% , and charging at rates clubs in Dublin charge!

I’d like to see them given 75 in the main stand for our home game and the shed end opened to Pats fans.

    Can't disagree.
I get why they can't give any more seats to away fans, there literally aren't any non-ST ones available these days it seems.
But I don't understand why the club couldn't allocate a side terrace to away fans, which would bring it over 250. The view would be crap and it's out in the open, but still.

Not sure how long construction is going to take, but June would be ambitious. Construction was meant to start in November and be complete by March. Delayed due to sewerage issues outside the ground.

Must resist all the very obvious and childishly amusing comments that go with that last sentence...

    100% agree with this.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Any Dundalk fans have any idea how many are coming to Tallaght this Friday.
First game of the season and a bit of a free shot.

I dont know myself but game on TV, jury out on the 'new' squad, there a sense of well not much locally on the big kick off imo, even the 1st game of the season I dont think it will be a big travelling support. 300 tops though Id love to be wrong and see whatever the away allocation for this game sold out!

Id agree with Nesta, The usual buses are heading, Tony's bus which always runs has 2 buses and the Shed boys have a bus, and a group of lads who do most aways have a mini bus as I was talking to them at football tonight but ive not heard of any other buses traveling from pubs about the town and you usually would if we were going to have a big crowd. 300-400 max id imagine

Away to Cork is a tough start. City lost 0-4 to Galway, 0-2 to Shels and 0-1 to Bohs in preseason. Kerry lost 0-3 to Galway. Hard to read anything into preseason but Cork have definitely had tougher challenges in preparation for the season ahead. Cork will be intent on a statement win. It will be a big test for Kerry's defence. Have lessons been learned from last season?
