They should call it the Senior Association Munster cup. Or 'SAM' for short.

    Kerry for Sam!

Congratulations Ramblers! There wasn't a cow milked in Cobh today by all accounts.

Mainly a Cobh Ramblers second team out as well . No Jack Doherty, Wilson Waweru or Lee Steacy in the matchday squad last night and made 8 changes from team that played Bray last Friday.

Surprising thing in todays Irish Sun was that they had a match report on MSC final which is great to see! Never seen it before!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

I don't think there's too many of either left on the Great Island anymore.

The Munster Senior Cup format has been slightly tweaked for the forthcoming season, with the five senior clubs joining at the last 16 stage, rather than the QFs as previously:

Treaty United in January: We have been drawn at home to Cobh Ramblers in the Semi-Final of the Munster Senior Cup.
The tie will be played at a neutral venue in our region with fixture details to be confirmed.

The neutral venue in their region was nonsense. This sort of stuff has me thinking the Munster clubs would be better off in some form of Munster League Cup. They seem committed however to putting up with the Cork Munster FA.

2-0 to Bohs at half time. Bohs playing the 2nd string. Usher have a couple of useful players though. The no9 and the goalie at least look like they’d be up to 1st Div level no probs.

5-0 to Bohs in the end. The last 30 mins was mostly their youths team and still Usher couldn’t get anything. It might sound mad but Bohs actually didn’t play great - lots of sloppy mistakes. One or two Usher lads were a tad rough/dirty at the end but luckily no injuries.

Over 3000 there tonight. I remember a time we might not get that amount with a league trophy being presented.

Hard to know what Bohs current level of attendance would be at the moment without the capacity restrictions. 3k+ on a Monday night for a LSC game, albeit a final, is some going. Usher had a bigger crowd than I would've expected in fairness. 2 blocks in the Jodi and a healthy number in the Mono Stand. They opened the Des Kelly End during the first half and I moved over as we couldn't get seats together. Brought my 2 young kids with me, great night. Kids don't care or know about the prestige of the competition so enjoyed the scoreline and trophy presentation.

Will there be an open top bus parade through North Dublin?

Nice crowd to see the winning of a nice trophy! Its quite remarkable really and I hope that this period of LoI Cool will be sustaied. I do believe in the 'rising tides raises all boats' thinking so long may t continue and that clubs make hay while the sun shines and not waste this unexpected popularity of LoI - it wont last for ever if there is no effort seen to increase crowds and improve facilities!!

Should be one for that Trophy to go on public display every years as it is a fine thing indeed!

I think it will, because it''s been very embryonic. It's not a bubble, as it hasn't been linked to anything specific that the league or clubs have done. Some clubs are now seeing the fruits of years of work plugging away in their local communities, but there's been no big bang to increase the attendances, so I don't see a big drop off being likely either. I think we're just in a growth phase for domestic fotball in the country currently.

It's also important to remember that the country's population is growing quite fast too - particularly in the cities and larger towns, which is where most LOI clubs are based. The population of the State grew by almost 390,000 in the 5yrs between 2016 and 2021. If only 1% of that growth was attracted to domestic football (not an unreasonable presumption in my view), then that would be almost 4,000 extra fans every week. Which for our league would be a hell of an increase across the board for each game. If only 0.5% of the growth was attracted, that would still be a 2,000 per game uplift. So even if nothing else happens, population growth alone would probably have a noticeable impact on LOI crowds.

I do think and hope you're right. To be fair we were coming from a fairly low base too. The league has needed better facilities for a long time regardless but now needs larger capacities (admittedly low capacities have largely come as a result of unsafe grounds being restricted). Incremental upgrades do have to start happening fairly rapidly though and that hasn't really happened at an acceptable rate. Presuming the youth sections of LOI clubs remain as the elite level of underage football in this country, we should continue to attract more interest than we did before that was the case.
