Just noticed no Conor O'Grady. I don't know who got in ahead of him in central midfield but still very surprising....
Simon Webb, Stephen Caffrey, Fergal Harkin, Glen Crowe, Bobby Ryan, Brian Shelley, Trevor Molloy (All Bohemians),
Owen Heary, Jon Minnock, Richie Baker, Barry Prenderville (All Shelbourne),
Paul Osam, Ciaran Foley, Martin Russell, Liam Kelly, (All St Pats), Pat Scully, Tony Grant, Shane Robinson, Sean Francis, Billy Woods, (All Shamrock Rovers),
Michael Devine, Derek Coughalan, Ollie Cahill (Cork City),
Philip Keogh, Jason Byrne, Colin Tresson, Jodi Lynch (Bray Wanderers),
Barry Ryan, Clive Delaney (UCD),
Derek O'Brien Alan Murphy (Galway United), Paul McNally (Longford Town),
Kevin McHugh (Finn Harps),
Gary Dempsey(Waterford United).
I think this is for that tournament thing with UK & irish non-league teams or something. And players have to be irish too.

soccer isn't a matter of life or death its more important than that!!!
Correct me if Im wrong but is Devine the only keeper in that bunch?
Is O'Riordan the manager for that squad? If he is that might go some way to explaining O'Grady's absence. He was in disupte with O'Riordans current employers.
Oh no not them again
Barry Ryan is a keeper too, but won't Shelley and Molloy be Carlisle players by the time the tournament takes place?
IMO its embarishing to be playing against the UK non-leaguers anyway.
Can't remember the exact nature of the tournament but think in theory irish semi-pro or non-league players in the Uk could play on the irish squad?
Great to see Barry Ryan getting some recognition for a fantastic season. Almost single-handedly got us a point against Shels on Friday.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
can't believe grady isn't in there! Strange choice of keepers, Devine and Ryan are both very good, but I would have thought one or two others would have stood a better chance- steve williams and steven o'brien to name just 2.
If Collins gets his way the whole lot will be Carlisle players at that stage !Originally posted by joe

It's good to see that First Division players are not excluded.
Are there two Conor O'Grady's or something as he didn't look that hot any time I saw him -there are much better midfielders in the League ( I'm not saying he's a bad player, just that he's not one of the best right now ). Let's put it this way -a good Cork City player is an average Eircom League one!
Except Ollie Cahill -but that will hardly apply in a few weeks time...
better than siging washed up rejects from england every year and bullying your way up the table though, isn't it?Originally posted by Shelsman

P.S. Whats it like to have no fans?
Williams is welsh (like Russell) so can't play for el irish selection.
Its ludicrous to comment on O'Grady after seeing him play obne game. Just take our word for it that hes been consistentlky good all season.
I think they have deliberately tried to spread the squad amoung as much teams as possible as thats the only explanation for 4 Bray players on the team. I know some of the top clubs have a good few foreigners but even allowing for that clubs like Galway & Longford would usually be lucky to get a lookin.
what about Shay Kelly at st. cheats? he's got to be in the squad.....
I've been along to Turners cross about 10 times this season if you must know, so I'm not judging him on one appearance. The other City players are so crap they just make him look good.Originally posted by pete

Mick McCarthy is not likely to be at the representational games so why not include foreign players who have contributed to our league if they are good enough?
are you sure you were at the right ground?! Even if the other city players were poor- even crap- which they have been on many occasions, it's surely a measure of a good player that he was able to consistently out-perform his team-mates in a team playing badly!

Because the rules of the tournament say the players have to be irish or welsh or english (depending on league selection they playing for)
Anyone who suggests O'Grady isn't a good player doesn't have a clue, then again I suppose he isn't a flare players either.
the whole thing is a joke and an insult to the eircom League anyway.

I have to disagree there Pete, I now O' Grady works hard in games but I think that it would be a bad reflection on the league if a player of his limited capabilities makes a representative team.
A less than inspiational midfield is one of the main reasons for City's poor results this year. O' Grady is not a patch of former City midfielders like Barry or Feyne in my opinion.
wheres Petter Hutton??Jon minnock should not be there. He cant get a game with shels.Good decision to put prenderville in.too many bohs players.maybe there predicting them leaving for carlisle.Bray players decision is baffling.Russell is a quality player. Its clear there spreading the team out over the clubs.only reason why Gary Dempsey and nally are on it.whos the gaffer
Don O'Riordan is the coach

The players have to be irish as in from the Republic!!! I also heard some players had holidays already planned so couldn't make it. Can hardly blame them with such a short break to the next season.
