A double weekend gives a chance to put a bit of early season shape on the table.
All eyes on the Brandywell for the clash of most peoples prediction for the top two.
UCD have a chance to put two teams that again are most peoples prediction to be around the end of the table behind them and a good start can be massive in terms of confidence and momentum.
Bohs have two tough games against Dundalk and Pats, will we be listening to another version in 2022 of " we could have been champions if not for a bad start".

Shels away to Drogs and UCD , wouldn't like to be the guy interviewing Duffer after the match on Monday if they haven't got a couple of points over the weekend.
We will have a much better idea of the relative strengths of the teams this time next week.

Cork v Galway the pick of the matches in Division 1 clash of two teams that will have ambitions to win the league.

    Very quiet thread!

Postponements in the first week - Drogheda v Harps in particular - make it very difficult to reckon what's going to happen at the bottom. Still no idea what to expect from either of those.

For us and Shels, we'll surely both be targetting six points, but 0 would be a disaster. Particularly for us with two home games. Couple of sloppy defensive mistakes really cost us in Tallaght last week (we were far the second best team, but they cost us nonetheless) and if they're gone from the system, then Kerrigan/Whelan should be able to get us off the mark touch wood.

UCD going with a free online programme all season btw - idea is to try use it as a promotional tool across the various parts of the club. We're trialling the idea of QR scans inside the ground to get a copy, or there'll be a link on the twitter feed too. Or you can just go straight to the club website here; tonight's issue is already available.

Curious to see how we perform tonight, but not exactly hopeful. Very early days to be saying this, but I'd expect us to lose tonight and for Shamrock Rovers to be top for the rest of the season. Their bench is outstanding, and no-one else will compete with it this season.

Fairly nice day to have a game off due to pitch conditions.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

I'm hoping Sligo not playing last week will be to our advantage, hopefully a bit rsuty, Buckos record in the first game of the season isn't great.

Derry vs Rovers already feels like a massive game. A win for Rovers and it's a bit ominous for the chasing pack, business as usual but a Derry win will give the rest of us hope and with Rovers coming to Richmond next week it could make things interesting.
    Here on a technicality.

It really is a bit mad the amount of games in the last year that fully engaged and dedicated LOI fans (myself included) don’t/didn’t know when most of the televised games are on. If people like us don’t know that these games are on tv then what chance is there for the floating fan/non LOI fan to tune in and watch a game. RTE's promotion of their LOI coverage isnt far off non existent

How is the pitch unplayable? It hasn't rained or snowed that much in the last couple of days.

Not sure the last week is to blame alone. A pre-season friendly was moved to UL very late just a few weeks ago for similar reasons.

Shams windowlickers on the pitch again. What is it about jumping across the advertising that they can't stayin the stands like everyone else?

Are you going to post about the Derry supporters on the pitch?

Poor from us …. Gave away a stupid peno …. And then 95th clanger from Pico ( who had a brilliant game) super finish by McGonigle…. JB was very poor ; hopefully still not fully match fit after long lay off…. Sean Hoare as usual a total liability…. Worst thing was the Tallaesque wind that made playing into it impossible …..

Re the Rovers fans going onto the pitch- disgraceful especially as all tickets were sold to Members ; so either they bought them and handed them to yobs or are themselves yobs- hopefully the club will use video footage and ban them - we simply don’t need their money if that’s the ‘price’s for it

Draw at UCD/Harps,Harps had a few chances,Mijhalevic should really have scored with 1 of his 2 efforts,UCD didn’t create an awful lot but probably should have had a penalty but the ref booked Whelan instead! The UCD bench not best pleased about that! Fair to say both will be struggling towards the bottom on that viewing but it’s early yet and the next few weeks will tell the story….
