Most people round Limerick follow all sports so there’s no point hating any sport and life’s too short for that.
Some parts of the country are better at pulling crowds to LOI fixtures and association football is top dog in Louth but in other parts like Limerick it’s a very crowded market in terms of getting crowds . Treaty can pull 1500/2000 easily enough but when you have Munster rugby and Limerick hurlers on your doorstep it’s not easy get the mass market especially in division 1 .

What is the total capacity of Finn Park? Remember hearing of very big crowds up there for games against Derry

Who sets these capacity limits? If it's the FAI, isn't this a massive hindrance to clubs who might fit more in on big nights.

If it's the government, how came the GAA get away with packing them in?

Surely it's councils who are responsible for assessing stadia and issuing safe capacities for them ?

There was a time Finn Park held 8,000 comfortably, but not a chance any more. River end is still closed, seats in the middle of the stand block the views of a lot of the terracing, and the new dressing rooms take up quite a substantial bit of space on the gantry side. Safe capacity is at about 4,500 currently after the installation of a crush barrier on the town end terrace a couple of years ago. I'd say you'd easily put the other 500 in to make up 5,000 without any issues, but any more than that and you're in like sardines.

You see sold out league of Ireland grounds where you could could push a buggy through the crowd yet God help anyone on Hill 16 who gets a heart attack on all Ireland day the way it's packed out. I would genuinely love to know

Its a combination of decision makers but ultimately the buck stops with the county fire officer and deciding safe holding capacity or more accurately the safe evacuation of numbers - if there really is such a thing in the event of the necessity.

Tbf capacities in plenty of GAA grounds have gone down in recent years and you could fit plenty more into them. Restroom facilities I'd imagine the problem in some Provincial grounds

I’d have the crowd at Richmond as around 4,200. Few empty seats in the main stand which was sold out during the week. That would be down to season tickets being allocated there which didn’t show. Pretty small Dundalk crowd compared to games back in the days when they were a top half club. Probably around 300 of them

What is the capacity of Richmond Park these days? I was surprised at the 4300 figure, as their stand was not completely full, mind you it was close, but the stand behind the goal looked only half full, unless the camac side was packed out, I don't see where the 4k+ is coming from, looked to be 3k max, but this was an official figure by the club I suppose.

Also it was small Dundalk support, probably half that went to Bohs and 1/3 that went to Drogs.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Capacity is 5,340 so around 800 empty in the away end and around 200 or so in the home end, sounds about right

Why are bohs supposedly the big club in north Dublin when pats and shels crowds home and away are every bit as good as bohs ?

The stand was apparently sold out prior to the game so I don't know if there were a lot of no-shows from season ticket holders or people just bought tickets there only to then stand on the Camac or what the story was. Felt like less than one or two other games this season but still a great crowd, quite pleased we haven't had a quick drop off as we have done a couple of a times previously.

How does Richmond hold that much more than places like Oriel or the Brandywell ?
