I thought he was going back to UCD.
Willie Doyle has parted company with Waterford United by mutual consent after deciding to return to college in September.
The 22-year-old former Bohemians striker joined the Blues from UCD at the start of the season having finished the previous year as the First Division’s top scorer but has failed to cement a regular place in the Waterford line-up.
He has now decided to take a break from football as he prepares to return to college.
Very strange move for one so young !
I thought he was going back to UCD.

Strange move alright - though I suppose Dublin City, Kildare and Cobh (as well as us) have just signed new strikers; wouldn't've been too surprised to see him move to Bray, for some reason.Originally Posted by Roo69

In fairness he's still probably better than that new baldy lad you have signed, we need another striker BAD thou, someone to play up front with Zayed and let Foxy move back into midfield.
Fabio from Drogs on loan for the rest of the season would do very nice thank you very much
True but that's not a good enough recommendation for signing him IMO.Originally Posted by Roo69

Yeah i agree. Bray is the most likely destination. He is from Wexford isn't he?Originally Posted by pineapple stu
Never thought he was a particularly good all round player but had a superb knack of being in the right place at the right time to score goals for UCD. If he got his confidence back im sure he would do a good job as a back up to Fox and Zayeed in Bray.
Where you start is not as important as where you finish!!!!

So Doyler is going back to College.... which college?
I was very reliably informed on Saturday that Doyle was due to speak with Limerick on Sunday afternoon regarding a move there. Whether that subsequently happened or simply didn't work out I don't know.
Incidentally the attitude of the lad could not be faulted. The move never worked out for him and when the financial situation of the club came to a head and players were asked would any be willing to take a wage cut or wanted to move on Doyle apparently said that he realised his performances had not been up to scratch but that he would prefer to stay on and do himself justice and he was willing to take a wage drop and go part-time.
