RISING singing stars The Conway Sisters will join the Hothouse Flowers, Aslan and Brian Kennedy on stage for a special gig in Galway at the end of next month writes Darragh Cox.
The Sligo quartet have been added to the bill for the first ever outdoor concert to be held at Terryland Park, home of Galway United FC, on Saturday, July 30.
The event, will see the playing surface protected with a specialist covering which is being brought in from England.
There will be a full range of catering facilities available around the pitch on the day of the concert.
A strong security operation will be enforced on the day to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that there will be little or no disturbance to local residents.
Organisers are dubbing the event ‘the lark in the park’ and are expecting the 5,000 tickets to sell out fast. The show promises six hours of non-stop music in an outdoor extravaganza and the line up promises to offer something for everyone. The event will also raise funds for the Special Olympics ‘Get up and Go’ campaign.
Tickets priced at €49.50 plus booking fee go on sale this week at all Zhivago outlets in Galway. Expecting a strong demand for tickets from the Sligo public to see The Conway Sisters, tickets can also be purchased at Star Records, as well as nationally through all Ticketmaster outlets.
Nick Leeson, the new Commercial Manager of Galway United said The fantastic line-up will ensure that the Special Olympics will benefit greatly from the event. We are hoping to raise in the region of €30,000 to train 30 children for the Special Olympics.
