Dave Fanning describes his 'favourite meetings with the stars' in a supplement with this week's RTE Guide.
Dublin, 1999
"Not quite an interview but I went into the Merrion Hotel in Dublin after the MTV Awards and I sat in the foyer, a tiny little place. I was there to interview Dolores O'Riordan, and there were only two other people sitting there. One was this huge, black, 40-foot guy, and the other was Britney Spears. She only had Hit Me Baby One More Time out so she wasn't that big and do you know what she was doing for the whole time she was there? She was reading the FAI sports page in the Irish Independent, St Pats v Bohs and all that. She wasn't trying to avoid eye contact or anything; she was genuinely interested in reading about Pats and Bohs."

I doubt this stems from or involves more than the fact that he spent his years holding up the bar in the SU though (as he constantly likes to remind us )Originally Posted by Shelsman
