We don't score enough from open play (and haven't done so under Kenny) to justify not having one of the pair on the field. That would be my view and it is open to plenty of challenge.
I think whether we agree on this point or not, Kenny has already decided we need one of them. I don't think we need both and if one has to be dropped I'd go for Hourihane who hasn't been great under Kenny.

I'd personally like to see Brady in the 10 role rather than Hendrick with a bit of pace in the RF role, Long or Maguire maybe or Curtis though I haven't seen much of the latter. I thought Maguire looked busy when he came on but might be better out wide.

    -------------Randolph-------------
    Doherty, Duffy, Long, Stevens
    -----Molumby------Hendrick-----
    --------------Brady---------------
    Long/Maguire-----------Connolly
    ----------------Idah---------------

I'm pretty sure molumby was one of the set-piece takers (corners, wide-frees) with the 21s.

With Horgan v Curtis, I think we know what Horgan brings, and we know he's great coming off the bench.

You're right about goals from open-play - dammit, even our shots from outside the box are dreadfully low.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

thats the team to be field to day, all out attack, weve got to be careful with their counter attacks, main doubt is hendrick or molumby.. a 4-3-3

For Kenny's sake I really hope we can get a win today to start getting the general public on board. Some of the nonsense being spouted on social media is unbelievable.

So, we are struggling to score goals and he has started Maguire and Horgan? Very brave. Not saying that Brady, Long or Idah would be more likely to score but the former two are better players and the latter arguably is.

That is a simplistic analysis of the selection but football is a simple games i.e. we need to score goals to win.

    Fingers crossed this works out.

I guess he is going with pace though I would have thought Idah offered that plus a bit of physicality. He might not be 100% fit.

I'm sure we'll see Idah at some point along with brady.

Brave is the word alright. I hope it goes well, but it is an inexperienced team (of course he has the covid issues to deal with), so I hope it doesn't up being another long evening.

I really like this i have to say, the front 3 are a bit old school, small irish footballing stature, a bit more direct and not backwards in going forwards, willing to try and beat a man in horgan and connolly, hopefully supplying good ball into a natural finisher, granted we havent seen an awful lot of maguire at International level.

It's bold and throws a lot of things up from Kenny, I like this mentality.

    Ireland to score first.

    Probably caught it from Zlatan.

But more seriously: he's probably grand as a young athlete, but it's a serious illness and I wish him mild to no symptoms and a quick recovery.

Amen to that. It seems to hit different people in different ways, possibly depending on genetics.

So best of luck to him!

What has Hendrick got on consecutive managers where they can't see he is utter horse ****!?? Been stealing caps for 4 years now, provides nothing to the team attacking wise or defensively. Watch him score today now 😂

I believe Mick Mccarthy is on commentary again. Hes really let himself down doing that. He came across as bitter in previous game and showed he is also a complete dinosaur with his football thinking. I can't imagine he needs the money so poor decision to agree to do it
