Couldn't make the game due to work, but what an incredible result for the Desmond League tonight.
Just a note for "fantastic fan" if you look at the team vs kerry you'll see that 1 player each from Glin and Carraig and 3 players each from Abbey Rathkeale and Broadford started that match so how you can say that most of the team are from Broadford makes absolutely no sense.

Super result. Could have easily been more. Desmond’s missed several chances.
District were absolutely terrible but that’s not to take away from the Desmond team performance. Ahern in particular was outstanding
When is the next game
Desmonds were excellent, far and away the better team. The only downside of the night was the miniscule crowd.
Not that I’m fully sure where the players play their club football but seemed to be a decent spread between abbey. Broadford and Rathkeale.
Ahern and Enright from Rathkeale were excellent.
The defence is solid. Joe mc and Sean o shea dealt with the physical threat of red Hanlon and then marshalled Connor Ellis very well.
The starting
11 were 4 each from Rathkeale and Broadford with 3 from Abbeyfeale, superb performance from all could have scored 2/3 more.
Seems like a fair enough representation of our top teams in my opinion
FAI Junior Round 4
Rathkeale 6 Lifford Celtic 2
Lifford took an early lead with Ahern equalising. Rathkeale took complete control after the break and went 6-1ahead through Hennessy, S O'Shea, Ahern, M Enright and a penalty from Shorten. Lifford converted a late penalty of their own.
Newcastle West Town 3-1 Shannon Olympic
Rathkeale 6-2 Lifford Celtic
Carrig Celtic 3-2 Killarney Athletic
Granagh United 1-3 Killarney Celtic
3 teams in the last 64 of the FAI is great going, well done to all.
Great to see 3 teams advance and credit to Granagh for a good show against a side that will fancy a good run in the competition.
Ballynanty Rovers/Pike Rovers Vs Newcastle West Town.
Carrig Celtic Vs Prospect Priory/Newport Town FC.
Rush Athletic/Dublin Celtic Vs Rathkeale.
Very tough draw for Newcastle. I think Carrig and Rathkeale both have a decent chance of advancing.
I think ncw have a chance they are playing well at the moment and have some experienced players, Carraig have a great chance, at home they are hard to beat, Rathkeale will have to play well to get a result away
Jesus if NCW beat any of those two teams in the next round there won't be enough room in the Observer !!!!!
Updated draw, don't think Rush and Dublin Celtic have played yet.
Also, Full Time Productions did highlights for two Desmond League games today:
Glin Rovers B Vs Breska Rovers B
Newcastle West Town Vs Granagh United

Saw the highlights on Facebook. Good promo for the league in fairness - but glad there wasn’t a video camera when I was kicking ball on a Sunday ha!
Premier is exciting me so far. I know it’s early but the “big 3” have all dropped points and Abbey nearly dropping more last weekend against Adare shows that I think this year there will be a lot more dropped points than usual. The gap between the bottom half of the premier seems to have become closer than previous years.
Glin and ballingarry have got off to a good start but I expect them both to drop off as the season goes on.
Adare struggling with life in the premier so far - been unlucky to be fair, losing most matches by the odd goal. Their poor start may cost them at the end of the season. Especially with the Football going to start back up in February. Hard to tell who will struggle at the bottom with them as AK have started very well and I would of thought they’d do well to stay up - they are only 3/4 more wins from safety already.
Shearer, did you ever think about going back doing your weekly round ups?
League is pretty interesting at the moment between teams dropping points and just the overall lack of league games. Good to have another week of League games in the Premier, Newcastle and Kilcornan in particular is an interesting one which I feel could go either way considering Kilcornan's previous results. Will be a good test for Newcastle before playing Pike.
With regards to the weekly write-ups, it is most definitely something I would love to return to in the future but probably not right now. I was very proud of my work at the time but feel when/if I return to it that I could definitely improve it again. Thanks for asking though, it's nice to be thought of!
Ya the write ups were brilliant to be fair. Everyone used to love reading them. Even if they were written on here
I just heard the terrible news about Liam O Connor's daughter. That is really awful and sad, my heart goes out to Liam the family. I wonder will the league call off games this weekend as a mark of respect? Only problem is, if there is FAI or Munster cup games they probably won't get called off
