Would Defoe count as young player? Isn't he too old for that accolade?
Well lads, who do you think deserves the accolades this season? Here's what I think
Player of the year
1. Frank Lampard
2. John Terry
3. Jamie Carragher
Young Player of the year
1. Jermaine Defoe
2. Shaun Wright Phillips
3. Cesc Fabreges
Manager of the year
1. David Moyes
2. Jose Mourinho
3. Bryan Robson (if he keeps West Brom up) \ Benitez (if Liverpool advance in the CL and finish 4th, considering his woeful injury crises)
Best Signing
1. Arjen Robben
2. Xabi Alonso
3. Tim Cahill

My other posts are intelligent and witty. This one is an exception.

I'm 21, I'm italian, but I love Ireland, and I always support the irish national team!
Terry by far and away player of the season.
Henry has to be ahead of Lampard. Come on. He has 30 goals and 20 assists. That is absolutely amazing. OK, Lampard has a load of goals for a midfielder but before the Barcelona game Lampard did absolutely nothing off the ball for the entire season. Since the Barca game he is a changed player though.

player of the year will probably go to Terry but Makelele should get it.
Manager has to go to Jose (hes been a breath of fresh air to the premiership)
go on chelsea for the treble!!!
'a' treble as opposed to 'the' treble - let's not get ahead of ourselves here!Originally Posted by Mourinho

If Chelsea win the the league and league cup - I suppose they will have won the DOUBLE then!!

Ceci n'est pas une signature
If I could find Mr. Houllier I'd ask him - must be the first manager to win a quadruple to get the boot!Originally Posted by noby
Well then I take it back! I believe it's 3 trebles Arsenal have won now and a couple more doubles to add on there too with our Charity Shield wins and Chelsea still ain't got no history as it stands!
In fact we are still on for the double!
p.s. agree wit ya on Carragher, he's had a fantastic season at the pool.

Benitez has done a great job at Liverpool in winning the European Cup and should be totally credited for it but I don't think he's been the best manager in the premiership nor possibly the champions league (close call with Hiddink at PSV).
For my money, Gus Hiddink has probably been the best all round coach in the Champions League leading a team put together on a fairly shoe-string budget to what should have been a final against Benitez's Reds and also winning the championship in Holland. I was totally impressed with PSV's sytle of play which was the most attarctive out of all of the last 4 teams in the competition.
Not taking anything away from Rafa and the win last night - it's just sometimes results like Liverpools last night and Arsenal's on Saturday can paper over the cracks in the views of supporters on what the Managers have achieved domestically in the league which is what this thread refers too.
It was amazing to see Liverpool come back from 3-0 down against Milan but you wonder why they couldn't do that at home to Boro or Portsmouth or whoever with those same fans shouting them on.
I can't see a single logical reason why Benitez (or Wenger, Ferguson etc) are more fitting of the Premiership manager of the year award giving their displays in the competition the award represents. than Moyes or Mourniho whose teams have excelled beyond expectations.
Fair play to Rafa though, European Cup is a major major prize and undoubtedly well deserved considering the teams they've put out along the way
