Given goes off at half time in Uefa cup

Given was sustituted at half time v Sporting Lisbon complaining of a hip problem. He has been suffering with the injury for awhile but this is the first time it has forced him out of the game. Does anyone know exactly what the problem is and is it long term. Newcastle won the game 1 - 0 at Saint James's.
