    Paul McT

McTiernan hasn't reported back for pre-season training. Heard he's saying he's still injured and I also heard that he's saying that he's going to take a rest from football for a while.

Something else I heard about the Boyle striker is that a premier division club is very interested in signing him and a player with local connections could be coming our way in exchange.

I would take either of them in exchange for McT.

Think McT has massive potential but is injury prone. Can't see Shels letting Cawley go and anyway with Jason Byrne and Crowe upfront they are unlikely to be interested in paying for McT.

As well as that Cawley has just won a league medal with Shels and is on a full time contract--He hardly wants to play first division football right now.

It's more likely to be the likes of Longford or Harps. Or what about Bray ? Connections with the area....Wes Charles to return ????...

I must say I'm surprised at how highly rated McTiernan is according to above posts. Personally I don't rate him any more as a Sligo Rovers player. He's not built of the type of stuff needed to be a winner. He's too quick at dropping the head and too slow at recovering from injury. Basic the lad's heart is not in it and a move would certainly do him all the good in the world. When he broke on to the scene with Rovers he had a huge appitite for the game. I think siemprered rightly pointed out in many of his posts that McT was getting badly coached. I have to agree with that point and it was all down to Mr O'Riordan. McT went through a bad patch and never really recovered. There's no doubt there's goals in the lad but it will take something special to get it out of him now. A fresh start will certainly help but first it's down to himself to get his head right. Only he can decide where his football future lies.
