Yes while I accept what you're saying, it is the only area of the game that teams can really improve on, unlike skill and technique which are much harder to develop(if it's even possible!) when players become adults. I don't understand why it is not used more to maximise teams' performances. I remember reading how Ian Harte would run in the sand and sea in Louth before preseason, just to give him that fitness edge over other players. And before you say it Charlie, I know it didn't help make him any quicker! This sort of training does not need great facilities just hard work on the part of the players.

Not a bad move for him. It's a step down by only within the division and Crawley have the guts of a decent team there.

Darron Ambrose has signed a sort term contract with Ipswich. Didn't he declare for us? Hadn't realised he was without a club.

Report here. Our Jack was in the stands too cheering on Villa. He really is everywhere these days, a bit like the old Bieber! Enda Stevens is the only Irish player mentioned in the report.

Has he signed the new contract at Villa yet or did he say it's too soon and he wants to see if he's good enough to play for Chelsea?

After Eoin Doyle and Joe Mason's hat tricks last night, when was the last time a pair of Irish players scored three for their clubs on the same day?

Mick McCarthy going for a three-pronged Irish attack for the trip to Wigan, with Daryl Murphy, Conor Sammon and David McGoldrick all starting. Stephen Hunt didn't make the squad so should be free to return to Wexford for the birth of his child. Rob Kiernan starts at full back for Wigan with James McClean on the bench.
