Lads, I know its hard at the moment, but lets try look at the positives for Thursday. Jon Walters played 90 mins today. Matt Doherty, jeff, Coleman, clark, Duffy and ward are all premier league players. Randy is the best keeper in the championship. Mclean and Meyler both have hearts of lions. Callum Robinson and Kevin Long are genuinely very very good players. We have a track record of pulling unlikely results out of nowhere. Keep the faith.

Very true - right now we have three Premier League Right-Backs, three Premier League Centre-halfs and two Premier League left-backs, plus John Egan whose career is steadily moving forwards.

On paper our midfield looks thin with only Hendrick in the Premier League. But as you said McClean and Meyler have the hearts of lions, plus they have enough EPL experience that it won't really affect their performances with us in the short run if they're playing in The Championship (it might even help if they're getting more gametime). Brady and Mccarthy will come back from injury but in the meantime, it gives the likes of O'Dowda, Browne, Horgan, Lenihan, Hourihane and Judge the chance to prove themselves - Browne in particular seems to have really come along in his development in the last year. Although, if it does turn out that Arter left due to a bust-up with Keane, then it's time for a serious chat with our Assistant Manager about the true meaning of Professionalism.

Up front, Long will always cause problems for defences and Walters showed against the USA that there's still life in the old warhorse - and Callum Robinson's decision (unprompted by the management team) to join the cause, combined with Graham Burke's good start at Preston, has come at the perfect time to give us some depth in the absence of Maguire and Hogan, although I think we could have used a newly-resurgent David McGoldrick to plug that gap - I feel that he has a couple of goals in him, given the right opportunity.

If Rice goes, it will definitely be a big disappointment, but not a catastrophe - we can look at Tommie Hoban, Jimmy Dunne and Derrick Williams as central defenders, with Conor Masterson, Lee O'Connor and Ryan Nolan looking close to a breakthrough. And who knows? Maybe he'll watch us play Wales and think "what am I doing? I should be out there playing" and return to the fold.

this statement would make keane a hero in most fans eyes..... not a villain as you suggest

Squad named and there's no Arter.

Would anybody object to bringing back Big Mick at this stage? I've defended O'Neill for as long as i can. This circus has to stop, and it won't stop while either O'Neill or Keane are in the job.

I'm all for bringing back Mick.

My only concern would be if they Keano fan boys in the media would give him a fair go.

We have limited enough options to choose from at International level IF (and it still remains 'if') the actions of Roy Keane or any other member of the management team is further limiting the pool we select from then the FAI must step in.

Put someone in charge who will try and play football.
I'd be keen on change but not for one of the usual suspects.

I questioned you before but I’m starting to think you may be on to something. It certainly seems there’s something going on in the camp

The more I think about it though, the more I think it’s not a massive deal. Unless it got personal.
Teams have arguments all the time.
If Arter and Keane had an argument about the game, it tells me that they both care. And the mentality and spirit of the team in many of our games has seemed very strong. We’ve gotten results where we probably had no business getting results at times (Germany, Italy, really putting it up to France who should have won the Euros and deservedly won the World Cup).

It’s hard to know. As I said, unless something got personal (which Keane is capable of to be fair) I can’t see a real problem about two people arguing over tactics/mistakes in a game.

To be honest any player who walks away to consider options, concentrate on the club career etc etc, are not going to be much good to us anyway. We lack the individual ability of the better nations but might just be able to make up for some of it by passion.

Can we keep this discussion to established facts? Speculation about what was said doesn't do anybody any favours

The fact is the country needs him and he is not coming.

I meant speculation on the subject of the argument between Keane and Arter
